True enough.
I know an oncologist that I saw smile once in the 7 years I knew of/worked with him.

The only time I saw him laugh, I nearly fainted. He was/is a rather taciturn person.

However, I have, on more than one occasion, had to chew a doc a new orifice, because he "stepped over the line" either by insulting me or one of my colleagues, questioning my competence in an un-nice fashion, or just being an ass.

Not all docs are that way, but enough are that it often validates the "stereotype".
