I'm thinking of replacing my DFGT soon but I don't know what wheel set to replace it with. I'm definitely not going to buy the higher-tiered ones like the T500RS, so I broke it down to the Logitech G27 or the Fanatec 911 GT3 RS V2 w/ Elite pedals. I believe it's pretty obvious to go with the latter but I only race a few hours per week and plus I do not hard mount so I have to move it every time I want to use it.
I really like the Fanatec's features like load cell brakes and a sequential which the G27 doesn't have. However, the G27's much cheaper since Fanatec has a huge shipping charge for me.

Out of the two, I'd personally go for the Fanatec.

I say the g27. The load cell isn't that great tbh. Unless you dig a mostly static pedal. The G27 with a gteye brake spring feels great. And even with that spring and purchasing an aftermarket sequential shifter, you'll probably spend less than the fanatech. Outside of a load cell and belt drive ffb, it's not that much better. Certainly not nearly twice the price better. If your shop around you can find a g27 for under $200. And with black friday and cyber monday around the corner, you could probably find it right around $150.

Thanks for the responses guys

Do you know an aftermarket sequential?

No, but I will be making one shortly. just got done with my ebrake. One mod at a time, aye.

If you have to use the wheel's clamp mechanism, I would go with the G27. The Fanatec clamp on the Porsche wheels is rubbish. I had both wheels so I was able to compare.

Well that is not fair. I have a first release CSR and CSP v1 and have not had a problem. And that is with hundreds of hours of play over the past 3 years.

I agree. My 911 GT2 wheel and CSP V1 pedals have been great for over 2 years. I did have one small issue (probably my own fault) which Fanatec promptly solved at no cost to me, so I can highly recommend them. I have over 130,000 miles of GT5 driving on them, so no complaints at all.

Before you decide on what to do you might consider getting a Playseat Challenge.

First I got the wheelstand pro that worked great (drilled holes in it for the GT3rs) in the living room with an armchair. But I also race a lot of PC sims, and there I could not use it. (Not high enough, had to use a kitchen chair w/o wheels) So I resorted to dismounting the wheel and pedals every time I didn't use it. :(

But now I own a Playseat Challange, it looks funky and need some adjustment to get it right.
It works wonders, and even transmit some of the FFB into the rig for greater immersion. Works great with almost any wheel combo. Playset.com have a special deal right now: Playseat Challenge & G27

Seems pretty sweet deal. I also only race a few hour every week but being able to have a "real" race seat and wheel combo is hard to beat. The Fanatec combo is better than the G27 but the upgrade from a DFGT to a G27 is a really big step. My biggest complaint about Fanatec is the stupid mounting.

I had my GT3rs v2 for about 3 years, and I got it used. Still going strong. With only one small niggle, I have to replace the spring on the right paddle shifter and the alcantara is almost worn smooth because I didn't use gloves to begin with.
There are a couple of things that set it apart from the G27.
Belt drive, especially noticeable when using it on a sim like rF2. The G27 rattles shakes because of the unfiltered FFB signals. Even in GT5 the GT3rs is smoother and more refined, no notches. More power as well. The adjustability of the Fanatec wheels are perfect when you as me drive different types of cars and sims/games.
But that's easily fixed :). I just ordered the CSR Elite combo. CSR wheel (same base as the GT2) and the CSR Elite pedals with the shifter combo, and I have a "rig" to but them on, the Playseat Challange.

That will be great to have. Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of buying it since my family isn't exactly flowing with money. As for the Fanatec, I am pretty aware of those things. It's too bad shipping for Fanatec is what makes this a difficult decision vs. the G27.

Yes I know, $500 is a lot of money.

Out of curiosity, how much is the shipping?

About $50. With the GT3 special package with the wheel, pedals, and 2 shifters that costs $260 (which is the pack I'm planning to buy), it comes up to $310.

If you can, spend the money on the GT3. Everything except three things are superior on the fanatec.
1. Paddle Shifter
2. Table Clamp
3. Shifter ( but you get both a seq and standard 6 speed shifter)

Porsche 911 GT3 RS V2 Value Pack XL US

What's superior with the Fanatec solution:
1. FFB, have a lot more information in it. (Will cope with the unfiltered FFB in rF2)
2. Loadcell!!!
3. Adjustability on wheel and pedals.
