Thought I'd open this thread for the help of users facing difficulties with PS3 and Connecting with a wireless router.

So far I have had nothing but strange problems with my Linksys router, one minute it connects - the next it doesnt! Now I know i'm not the only one with these problems but there doesnt seem to be a fix for my router, so i have now purchased a Netgear one which I have yet to install and check if it is ok. Biggest problem I fear is all my current set up and everything I use on my Linksys Router is perfectly fine - if change it I may end up with further issue's :(

So what i'm asking is if you are using a wireless router to connect your PS3 to the PSN can you please share the Model of router, and maybe what other devices you connect with your router.

Ok I'll start.

Linksys WAG354G
Wireless-G ADSL Home Gateway

Currently I connect:

PS3 (only connects when it feels like it)
Xbox 360 (Never had a problem)
PSP (Never had a problem)
DS Lite (Never had a problem)
2 Laptops (Never had a problem)
2 Desktop PC's (Never had a problem)

The Linksys WRT54G works fine. A lot of people use those.

The only issues I get now is when the 2nd PS3 is connected to the network. We get an IP conflict message pop up on my computer. But that's the only issue we have, other than having to unplug it every now and again because it stops working with the torrents running 24/7.

2 PS3s
Xbox 360
3 Computers
PSP occasionally.

I have a Linksys WAG54G wireless router and I haven't had much of a problem with the PS3 finding it, however I am having some problems with the web browser. For some reason, it stops loading images (I can surf from page to page, but images appear as red X's) and I have to close the browser and reopen it, and it loads the images... Also, alot of the time it's slow compared to surfing the web on my laptop using the same wireless set up... so I don't think there's a problem with the router, more like the PS3...

We use a D-Link Wireless router, not had any problems with the PS3 finding it.

We have:

PS3 about 6 meters to router through 2 brick walls and it sees it 75% we get about 200K download when the virgin connection isnt being an ass.

PC is hardwired via an earthanet cable

Mac upstairs about 6 meters also through a brick wall and floor and it sees it 100% and I get 300K+ on a good day depending on host.

Ohh and no probs with the PSP either.

Three year old Dell TrueMobile 2300 802.11b/g wireless access point with a built-in Internet router.

PS3 is moved around, but most of the time it is one floor down, and more than 40' from the router and I have not had any connection problems.

With wireless so much depends on the enviroment the equipment is in regarding interference form any number of different sources. Also with both wired and wireless internet, quality connections will also vary depending on the individual ISP and sites visited.[/QUOTE]

Glad I searched and found this thread. I'm seeking the same answer. But as Digital-Nitrate said, there are many factors which may effect the quality of your wireless connectivity. I would like to know what people generally are using though. Seems Linksys and D-Link products are very popular.

@Sprite is your D-Link the DGL-4300 GamerLounge Wireless 108G?

Would the connection be better/faster if I didn't use a wireless and instead had the cable company run a line and create a new cable outlet behind the PS3?

Thanks,
ERacer
