Hi

Got GT4 last week, transferred my 100,000 credits from GT3 and did a couple of beginning races to fund an M3 CSL...

Went round the Nurburgring today and have covered 150 miles round it. What a track!

My question is what is a good time in a totally standard M3 CSL (with medium sports tyres) on a free run in GT mode?

After 10 laps, I'd got down to 8.00.414 (and I messed up the penultimate corner... )

Also is a wheel quicker? I have always used the analogue controller in AT mode.

Any info gratefully received.

I just bought the car a second ago, I did a quick lap. I managed a 7.31.363. I'd say 10-12 seconds could come off that if I was really trying. and yes, the wheel definately helps(at least it did for me).

rock. :cool

I would agree that a wheel would help. But the biggest thing will be lapping and lapping and lapping! Maybe mix it up with some slower cars too, then go back to the CSL, for some variety. I find I learn something new every time I switch cars. For a beginner, I think your time is pretty decent and a good base to work on improving from.

After a while you may find MT easier as it can give you more control in certain situations. Often I find the AT will change up right in the middle of the corner, upsetting the car, or will change up when I wouldn't bother, just before starting to brake. It's a personal preference, but a lot of people prefer the control of MT once they're used to it. One thing I'd recommend is trying N2 tyres, just because it might be easier to get closer to the limits with them in such a quick car.

I've done probably 1000 laps in total at the 'Ring and my best in the CSL with N2 tyres is 7:45. My Dad has done maybe 100 laps and his best is 8:00. With N2 tyres I think a good target would be around 8:30 - 8:45 to begin with, then go from there. I'm not sure about a decent time with sports tyres, but that seems pretty good if you're just starting! Good luck :)

The best cars i have ever driven round the ring is the NSX Type R, M3 CSL and the RUF RGT. No other car in GT4 handles like the RGT on the ring - SUPERB handling!

Anyway I did a 7.39,413 in the CSL with the DS2 - MT, SM (S2) tires and NO driving aids...
