I've been learning how to drift for a little while now, and I've always had the problem of the car sliding around like its on ice. So, I decided to try out sports tires instead of the comfort ones everyone else uses.

When I tried them out with my 401hp supra RZ, I thought it worked perfectly. I was talking to Suzuki, and he said the comfort tires work fine for him. But then again, he has the wheel, and I'm stuck with the DS2.

Basically, I'm making this thread to see what everyone thinks of the following statement. I think the sports tires are better for people using the DS2, than the comfort, due to the lack of true analog ability in the controller.

Try it out, and tell me what you all think.

I also like sport tires too. I use the DFP. However I like driving the cars stock so thus I go for comfort to get the desired results from an untuned car.

Comfort tires are good when your car isn't tuned and you want to get nice exhibition drifts. (angle, distance, and smoke). Using sports relieves the ice feeling due to the grippier tires and I do like them as well when I use them on my tuned cars. I can be more aggressive when entering a corner with a greater angle without fear of sliding like ice as you described into the wall.

401 hp might be a bit too much. I drift great in an RX-8 with 296 hp, using Comfort tires. If you're going to have that much power, use sports tires, and don't have your rear suspension too soft.

well plus you are using a supra which has probably one of the biggest wheelspin problems in the game so i say yes to sports tires in that case. I still have an SZ-R supra sitting around, I want to see if its better on the wheelspin than the RZ.

hmm... i think that nething over Normal tires seem to have too much grip for me but then again u r using a supra with alot of horsepower so yea sports tires would be good

I meant that I Kicked up the hp just for the use of sports tires. I also tried it on my S15, and kicked that up from 320 something to 365 for the sports tires as you need a bit more to break the rear tires loose.

N2 are better off for me, even on the D1 cars. Don't ask. It feels more controllable.

I use the D-Pad on my DS2, and my Supra is 436HP on N3's. The Supra is a wheel-spin monster, but I don't have any problems controlling it. Hard feint or light feint with alittle brake drift, the wheel-spin is controlable for 99.9% of the time. How quickly the load travels from side to side and front to back, will determine how your tires grip or slip depending on your style. Traction during a drift is relative to how your suspension is setup. I'm not saying your setup is bad, but sometimes if you tweek your suspension just alittle you'll get the desired results without having to upgrade on tires. But if you find you're more comfortable with the Sports, rock on. I think I have a saved replay if you care to watch it, but it's definately possible with a large amount of power, bad tires, and a DS2... 👍

I've been practicing pretty heavy at autumn ring mini with my supra and S15, and this morning I tried it with a 400 hp S13, and I feel like I'm doing MUCH better than before. Hopefully, I'll have a video up here within a week.

hi i always use the racing tyres , i like more realistic drifts then when i do it whit the comfort or the sports. when you drift in real life you have grip when you need it , right? for some of the cars , for example i take my ss ae86 , not that much of power in real life to. i take it on the tsukuba whit medium at the front and hard on the back. try to do some drifts like you do whit the comfort tyres ot the sports. it much harder and you must take more speed and to leave it in a drift.

im not saying that all the other people are not drifting the most realistic way it!!!!
and yes i use a steering wheel.
