@GT4_Rule, move to Texas, where the speed limit is legally 80 mph (at least they just said that on the news the other day, I have not talked to a Texan to confirm it), that is 128.74752 kph.

But, to put that into perspective, there are 12 550 Maranello's here. In ALL of NZ.

But yeah, it's a pretty awesome place. Except for Skyline drivers. Watch out for them.

As people have mentioned already, the south is the place to go for nature.

Me and my brother was talking about a band called OMC today. They are the only band from New Zealand that I know of(if they are still around), and the one album that they did release here, it was awesome. I still have it somewhere.

Hahah, OMC had a hit single 'How Bizarre'. They soon faded out of the limelight and the spoof 'Stole My Car' seemed to be a lot more popular then the original :D.

Yup, that was the one. I liked almost every single songs in the album though. It was very unique.
 
NZ isn't too developed or industrialized like the US and Canada, I assume?

Milford Sound is one of the two places i would go in the world if given the choice. The first being Antartica below South America.

It is only about an eight or more hours drive from here but i think for about 95% of the year it is raining there (wettest place in the country). That area also holds the worlds fifth highest waterfall and i think one of (if not the) the steepest mountain top to bottom (hard to explain, maybe someone else can do a better job?).

Sharpest gradient? Most sheer? I thinks that's what you're trying to get at. Correct?

I think that the drinking age should never have been lowered to 18, which is the topic for discussion at the moment in NZ, well one of many topics! And now they are thinking of raising it again! Should never have happened in the first place, in my opinion!

It depends on the 18 year old involved. I'm 19 and enjoy getting hammered but it's usually at home or a mates place.

Binge drinking on the other hand, or drinking for the sake of being seen drinking is definately a problem.
 
I also don't think it should have been lowered, should be 20 years or older. I'm 23 and have only ever had about half-three quarters of a glass of alcohol ever when combined.

Because of more than a few ********s who are spoiling it for the rest of the more responsible people. Anyway, the sort of people who are spoiling it for us would still be getting alcohol from their olds on welfare day even if the drinking age was raised.

Their 50c coins are round IIRC (crazy :crazy:). And their 20c coins are the same shape and size as ours, so we can use them in our vending machines

You Aussies won't be doing that for much longer, as our coins are changing now! I quite like the new coins actually!

What do the rest of you Kiwi's think about them? Yay or nay?

Okay, I suppose. But they are too similar in size, though.
 
There was nothing wrong with the old ones...

I never use cash anymore anyway - it's always on EFTPOS.

The new ones turned out heavier than I expected. Everyone was going on about how light they were... I expected them to feel like plastic coins. But at least they do have some weight to them.

I'm curious to see what happens with the 10c though. They're shiny and copper now, but give it a few years. Will they go that ugly brown colour like the 1c and 2c were? (If you can remember those...)

Also, I think the lose of the 5c is a shame. I can't see the point in dropping it. Only inflationary in my opinion. The US (arguably the strongest economy in the world) still works down to the penny - yet we're too good to even go to the nearest 5c?...
 
When the new coins came out I didn't realise that they were going to be that small!

Yes, of course I remember the 1 and 2 cent coins! I doubt very much that they will go like the old school ones though! But time will tell!

Also, I am not really fussed about losing the 5 cent coin!

I wander how long it is going to take to get rid of all the old coin! As 5 cent coins are still hanging around!

I'm a bit divided about the new coins too. The removal of 5c coins is just going to raise prices more i suspect. :|
 
What happens if you pay for something advertised as $9.95 wth a $10 note?

Shops will have to change their $0.95 prices to $0.99
 
Being a fairly clumsy sort of person, all the new coins mean for me is that I'm gonna be losing them more often. Used to happen all the time with the 5c coins, whereas it took some effort to not notice a 50c piece.
Other than that, I suppose lighter wallets are a good thing.
