Is it so hard to kick the ball deep into the end zone (or out of it) on kickoff? If not, why the hell don't they just do that every single time??? It seems like they're just taking a big chance (of a major runback) for very little reason (possibly 5 more yards).

So does anyone know? This is really bugging me. They should just kick it too deep every time.

No seriously, does anyone know the answer to this?

the ball used to be kicked off much closer to the end zone therfore creating a great percentage of touchbacks. several years ago the kickoff tee was moved back 10 yards to add more excitement to the kicking game. if kickers could kick the ball through the back of the end zone they would. you try kicking a ball 70 yards off a tee.

Ok, so it's simply a matter of not being able to do it. I guess it's kinda random because sometimes they kick the ball out of the back of the end zone and sometimes it lands on the 5 yard line.

Good to know that I'm not crazy though.
