And which one is better?

Alright, yes, I did my research, I however, am not geeky enough (or at all) to understand those terminologies and complex explanations.

The reason why I ask this, is because I'm looking for a laptop for my uncle, who asked me to get one with a Centrino processor. But unfortunately all I can find are laptops with the Intel Pentium dual core processor in it. I wanna explain my uncle that the Dual Core is better, but I'm obviously not sure about that.

I don't think he's gonna use it to perform difficult tasks in it, only basic ones, like surfing through the web and storing a lot of stuff.

I just need to know the differences between them and the better one.

Grazie.

Centrino, a platform-marketing initiative from Intel, covers a particular combination of CPU, mainboard chipset and wireless network interface in the design of a laptop personal computer. Intel claimed that systems equipped with these technologies should deliver better performance, longer battery life and broad wireless network interoperability.

To qualify for a Centrino label, laptop vendors must use all three Intel qualified parts, otherwise using only the processor and chipset will carry the Intel Core label instead.

So it looks like they both probably use the same processor, but the combination of the 3 Intel components of the Centrino may give you a little better battery life.

Centrino is not a processor model per se, it's a set of specs for portable computers. Laptops carrying the label have a specified set of features, including mobile CPUs, the motherboard chipset, and wireless networking. As for processor labeling, a Centrino-spec processor is just part of the Centrino system on that laptop.

Well then thank you very much gentlemen! Now I obviously have a better understanding of this. You were definitely of great help! +rep for the ones who helped :D:tup:
