What's the Difference Between LCD Screens?

So everybody is all hyped up about 1080p and what not for their TVs, right? the smallest available 1080p TVs I can find are 37", a Westinghouse and something else, and they're big ****. However, there have been 24" LCD computer monitors that can display that resolution (WUXGA; 1920x1200) for however long. In addition, some 17" laptops have the same WUXGA resolution.

So what gives, why don't TV manufacturers make smaller 1080p sets? And why don't monitor manufacturers make smaller WUXGA monitors?
 
Because smaller sets are becoming less popular due to the price of TVs (in general) falling.
 
So there's zero technical difference?

Have you seen how small the text and images are at 1920x1200 on a 17" screen? It definately would not be pleasant on a smaller screen.
 
Big TV sets are come down hugely in price, HD flat screens cost hardly anything now for 32"..... But to go to 1080p I think its costs quite abit more!

I'l be sticking with my 19" LCD com monitor for now!

I'm not talking about something as small as 17", but a, say, a 26 inch? And people who live in smaller spaces, like dorms or small apartments who want 1080p, but don't have the space for a 37".
