What's the fuss about the S License?

Hi,

I've read a lot of horror stories about the S License Tests, and since getting GT3 about 3 months ago have not gone near them.

Well, today I finally bit the bullet and gave them a go.

4 hours later I now have my License!

I wonder if this has to do with the fact that by the time I have come to do the tests, I know the tracks the drive styles of the different types of car pretty well, or is it just not that big a challenge (thankfully!).

If anyone else is having problems with these tests then I STRONGLY recommend turning ghost updating ON.

Take the first lap pretty slow - just to record a time and full replay of the lap. Then from then on just race yourself - you should be able to get it after a few attempts. Even test 8 took only 4 or 5 goes - every time that I fell behind my previous best ghost I immediately restarted the race.

Has anyone else had a real relief with these tests or is it just me?

(PS - I don't have a steering wheel - just the dualshock 2)

Actually I thought some were easy, but some were really hard like Seattle in the GT40 and Monaco in the GT-One. IMO the S-8 test has been the hardest part I have encountered in the game so far.

But I do agree that some parts are a little easy, especially compared to IA-8 which is one of the hardest lisence tests IMO.

Hmm. S8 was easy after you've watched the demo. Remind me which IA-8 was again please?

I thought the hardest one was (I think) IA-1, the 60m wet circle.

IA-8 = Mines Skyline at Complex String.

IA-8 was cake to me. (not to brag, just commenting) I played it last night as the first drive of the "day" and got a silver first try. I had thought I did pretty badly, but apparently not! Alls you gotta do is have good throttle control.. (which I am just learning to do with the dual shock controllers. used to think the buttons where too sensitive, but I got the hang of her now ;) )
peace,

Heres a thought:

;) Without the whole LICENSE-TEST thing... I would've still be a poor driver.

:D Everything from B1... to AI-8... to S-8 help refine my driving skills.

Did they with you???

I personally thought all the s license was cake. Now don't get me wrong, some took me 4 plus tries, but as a whole, i was only off by like 1 or less seconds every attempt.

i think the trick to em is, don't sit down and take the whole thing at once. Try the test, fail or pass, do the same race with same car in sim mode. Race the computer until you are busting very good times. Go back and try the test again.

I absolutely love the gt 40 and getting it around seattle was way fun, (you're made or broke after the first chicane) hint hint

anyway, i think what happens is people sit down and try to get all the licenses at the same sitting. Impossible. They get confident becuase they got the international a and think they're ready for the super.

My biggest Hint to anyone trying for the s license: RACE ALL POSSIBLE RACES IN SIM MODE FIRST, then try the s. By that time you should be able to pass em off in a matter of minutes.
