whats the M3 csl like for drifting?

I'd say very nice. the suspension is very stiff compare to regular M3. It gets a very good balance between grip and drift with N3 and S1 tires on. Meaning your car wont slid out as much as M3 does when drifting. I belive the price is kind high but worth it, good looking and performance.

The NSX-R is much better than the CSL and they cost about the same. Well atleast to me it is because i use a DS2. Let go of the gas in the NSX and the rears will start sliding. Same with my 86 MR2 SC.

Talk to seito4counter about MR drifting.

He drifts a turbo MR-S on wet touge like every chance he gets.

I personally think he's insane..

So far I find the CSL to be stable enough, but its not the best for drifting. BMW's are built with the mind state of being in control,Watch Best motoring if you don't know what I mean. They have alot of systems built in to keep them from oversteering. So they tend to understeer quite well to apoint. But understeer can be dailed out, I'm currently working on a drift bible 2 video and setups for 900 degree drifters. So maybe i'll include the CSL in that.

Great Ryen, I'm looking forward to the new Drift Bible. I'm sure it's going to be good stuff!

That should be interesting. The CSL isn't too hard to drift with a DS2 controller. Drifting on 900 degree could prove difficult. I can't drift with my LDFP wheel at all due to it countersteering kind of slow (I tried turning it back as quick as I could). I use it for racing only, although tips for using it to drift would be great. I went drifting in my real car before (95' 240SX SR20DET) and it was way easier in real life to countersteer. All I had to do in real life was make it oversteer with a feint, then let go of the wheel and it will quickly countersteer for me before I grab it again to correct it precisely. I was hoping GT4 drifting to be way more realistic then GT3 drifting (easy) :scared: .

They don't use all the real life, high tech monitors in GT4, but I am assuming you know that.

The new M5 has a TON of electronic-make-you-drive-better stuff and all of it can't be turned off 👎 But in real life M3's can drift like nobodies business, regardless if they have more built in systems then other cars. I've seen quite a few videos of people drifting the hell out of M3's :)

:( i was going to be working on a drift-bible type video as well.

 I guess we all sorta had plans...
Well i figured I'd do it since my brother did the lats one for GT3.... How about we work togehter omins since we know each other eh.

I read an article that said the new M6 will have some sort of electronic controlled LSD, that can become 100% full lock with the tyres start spinning. I don't understand LSDs that much but the writer said the M6 should be a good drifter because of it.

The Z4 is a better drifter, in my opinion than the M3 or M3 CSL...

The M5 will show them all a thing or two...gotta love 4 door drifting.

I am a fan of MR drifting too...lately I am in love with a Monza Red Lancia Stratos...

It's another Lift Throttle Oversteer monster...

If you love MR you gotta love that Lotus 111R crazy oversteering machine :trouble:

I have to second the notion that the Stratos is a great drifting machine. Once past the lousy brakes and initial understeer it adopts a real rally attitude, even on dry tarmac. Lift off and power on oversteer available from this one. I've never been lucky enough to drive a real Stratos but what I have read about the car suggests that GT4 has got it pretty close to accurate. Love driving this one. It's like an indoor go-kart. Will do just what you tell it to. Except stop.

I just picked this car up to do the M-Club races and felt it needed very few mods to compete.

I think all that was done was weight reduction and aftermarket rims, and a wing as a quick partial cure for the understeer. Oh, and a racing exhaust, just because it's NA (wham, 8200rpm).

With some N class tires, it would probably drift very well.

When I do try, which I know I'll be doing very shortly, the wing will come off despite being able to set the downforce to zero. It just looks better, and I'd rather preserve the BMW look and feel.

Hmm.. a reason.

I don't agree to that. The new M5 has a lot of technical gadgets, for sure, but the only driving aid that can't be turned off is the ABS. You have to push the button for a few seconds, and then everything, even the M-Track Mode is switched off and you're free to go sideways with your back wheels "fully lit", as EVO Magazine puts it.

not even sure if you have the bible out by now, but i took a month to cleanse myself of gt3 and bad gt4 techniques.

it was really screwing with my drifting. i beat everything while racing, so now i can come back to the game as a drifter.

anyway...i'm going to be trying out the m3, the csl, and the R ot gtr or whatever it's called. all stock, of course. then i'll move the modifications. even though this thread is like a month old already, i'll try and give some significance with my input.

If Drift Bible 2 (speculative title) was out, it would be like a public service announcement.

The GT3 Drift Bible was remembered much in the same manner as Gran Dorifto 1 & 2.

Thus, I wouldn't mind being able to do some of the technique demonstrations for the next installation *wink wink nudge nudge*.

All we need is Shadow Drifter and we'll be one big happy family again.

Although, he has a family of his own now, so his absence is excused.

It would still be nice if he said hi or reminded us of his zany antics once in a while..

:indiff:

I hated myself after putting that wing on my Z4.

I took one out, tuned it up for drifting...

It SUCKED with the wing on.

Yet just running it on Road (front) Comfort (rear) and at about 285 Hp, lightened, all drivetrain (1.5 LSD) and best brake/exhaust/suspension, I found the car would produce some awesomely angled slides.

I almost only drift with my m3 and the csl, they're both totally stock, except flywheel clutch driveshaft chip and exhaust, and i've both equiped them with road tyres on the front and comfort tyres at the back.
They're really fun to drive, though the csl can be a bit hard to handle compared to the normal m3, but they will both put some awesome slides down.
