I still havent seen any races that require me to have any licenses, I really dont like that instead of getting some licens you have to grind rns to gain exp :s
Seems like they just reused some old part of the game but removed its use completely

None, they're just there as a challenge and for experience. Personally I have no problem with this as I have always hated the license tests.

The licences can be a good learning tool for less experienced players.

This. For those accustomed to arcade-style racing games, it provides the basics of actual driving dynamics.

I personally am disappointed that they're not required for races. I'd love to have seen an "Online License" where you need to clear all tests without making any contact with other cars at all.

Was gonna reply to this but you guys beat me to the answer. I remember when I got GT1, with really no racing game experience previous to it, the tests were a great way to learn how best to play the game and even get to know in detail some of the tougher corners in the game. I didn't play much of GT4, so even in GT5 the licenses were a nice refresher before hitting the real races.

I did like that they had more of a "point" in previous games, but I also really don't mind how they're handled in this one either.

I use the license tests to further game play after acing the rest of the game. I finish the licenses with what i get after a few tries, then when I need some refreshment ffrom hard racing I go back for the golds.
