Offline, the X1 can be used in pretty much any race and way outclasses the LMP's. Online, the rooms that are any competative and worth joining use street cars only. So what's the point of all the race cars? I have a bunch but I never use them.

The point of any and all of the types of cars is that in this game it is an opportunity to be able to drive these different types of cars in different types of environments. If you are only using GT5 as an attempt to display your superiority over other human and AI opponents, then you are missing not only the point of "The Real Driving Simulator" but also a great deal of what this game has to offer. I guess it is the difference of buying this as a video game and buying it as a car appreciation game 💡

Certain servers use certain cars. That's why there is an hp limit. Dont go into and unrestricted server and expect people to all be at your level.

This is a joke post, right?

But still, if the host is sleeping, nothing stops people from entering race cars with street cars. Also, not all race cars built equally. Super Gt cars have great handling, but poor top speeds. The DTM cars are different, and so are the LM racers. For example, an Ford GT LM spec 2 car with about 580 HP will kill a tuned Super GT car with around the same amount of HP.

I am not a great racer/driver in GT5 (or in real life!). Since joining GT Planet I have read so many articles about using lower powered cars to win races instead of powering to the front and "racing the course". I do not race online yet, but what I have found it that through using cars with less power than the Vettel I am still winning the races.

So...

I get the Vettel 1500bhp, and then the next tier is road cars >500hp. I can race the Vettel against all comers (AI) and win. Or I can drive street cars and lose.

Or PD put in some race cars between 500 and 1500 bhp. It gives me a choice. I might win with some and lose with some. But I raced.

Its a Racing/Driving game.

True. PD really needs to implement a matchmaking system with alot of filters. Aswell as more options for the host.

I think a feature PD should consider is allowing all the cars unlocked for online in stock form. So then the host can choose to only allow Super GT cars in stock forms, because as of now, even in the Super GT only rooms, the host usually sets the HP/weight limit to benefit their particular "tuned" super gt car.

This is a stupid thread, You might as well just asked

'Why doesn't PD just get rid of every car in the game except the X1?'

LOL, barely anybody does rally in the game, infact, not even PD likes rally all that much given the lack of events.

I was only joking, but a very sad fact indeed.
The Rally Special events with the AI weren't great either.
The tracks barely had corners in them.

Rally was fun back in GT2. Rally on this game just feels so dull.

Kaz needs to pick up Forza 3 and Dirt2 and start making a to-do list.

Ya, the game has so much content, its just very poorly organized and makes the game feel shorter than it should be. PD really needs to first look at a match making system that pairs you up with people of your level. Then PD needs pre-made rooms that essentially allow you to race only the cars given in the online garage.

I mean bringing your own personal cars into online is fun and all, and it should remain with the current system, but its extremely inefficient if your tying to get fair races. In a fair race, the biggest factor that should decide who cross the finish line first should be the driver's skill. There are people with clearly superior cars, people who are great at tuning cars and so it makes for some very unfair races.

You missed the point of this thread, I don't even like driving the X1, I'm just saying that if I'm going to do an endurance race or something else on A-Spec I'm gonna use that because it's the fastest way to finish those races.

Online mode I only race in street car lobbies, the race car lobbies are never competative because the people that race in them are never any good from my experience. There might be some race car lobbies that are great, but I've never seen them.

SO ALL I'M ASKING is if anyone has found any point to owning a bunch of different race cars besides just calling yourself a virtual car collector?
