exactly that, what xp is there for basically starting the race, parking the car up, buggering off then drive one lap to check out after 24 hours?

i was wondering as the winning xp is hooooge comapared to basic race grinds

should be almost the same as if you win. I didn't try as I'm not there yet but in other events you almost get the same XP just for attending...

i'm thinking xp is very much time based, so they may have put something very low in the system if you do this

XP in timed enduros is a matter of distance. If you're doing only 1 lap in a 24 h event, I guess you should earn as much xp/credits as if you won the Clubman Cup.

Wrong.

the timed events is not based on distance but based on final position. i have done the 4hr race around the ring numerous times and done anywhere from 26 to 40 laps and gotten 1st place everytime. it is still the same xp and credit amount regardless of the number of laps i did.

However the thread is about coming last not first. Now i have gold on Le Mans it'd be much easier to leave the PS3 on like a B-spec race, come last place and still get the 4.5mil exp ^^

/SARCASM!

Not a chance it'd be the same.

No, it doesn't work. The xp reward is based on the final position, and to a certain degree on the distance ; on Le Mans, after completing the race once, i did 76 laps (20% of winner's distance, hoping to get 20% of 450.000 xp) and i earned 69.000xp :banghead:

If you grind around Indy for twenty four hours in an X1 say then you will earn more XP than that so it wouldnt really be worthwhile.

I'll use basic figures as I can't remember the exact ones, but it is 34 seconds a lap over ten laps, lets call it six minutes to do a race and restart to do the same one (sounds about right for me anyway). Estimate for Indy is 10,000 XP per race in Dream Car (I think it might be a bit more), so every hour you can fit in ten races, which means 100,000 XP per hour. So if you did 24 hours griding you would end up with 2,400,000 XP. So just under half a million credits isnt really that much, plus by griding you can save and back up more often aswell :)

Going off of that you can earn the XP from a 24 hour race just with 4.5 hours grinding.

I can assure you that the best xp/min is Le Mans 24h... you can do it in 15.5 hours with the X1, and the reward is 4.593.700 xp, so that's 4.939 xp/min. On Indy i think you earn 9.819 xp, so if you complete a race every 6 min you should have 1.520.000 xp after 15.5 hours and that's 1636 xp/min ;)

Care to explain how you can complete a 24hours race in 15.5 hours? And please don't tell me you'll have enough laps completed in 15.5 hours to still beat the AI by parking up because it still takes 24 hours whether you race or not, and if you leave it for those 8.5 hours it'll be hilarious when the AI overtakes you and you come last!

XP rates are available in various threads and stickies on GTPlanet. 24Hr Le Mans is far and away the highest for both Aspec and Bspec.

I know that your finishing position effects XP. I have no idea on last place, I suppose someone could experiment but you would need to do two tests on the same event:
- run one lap, then leave it.
- run many laps, then leave it.

I would not be surprised if the XP you end up with would make the exercise futile as a grinding option, but it would be nice to be wrong.

I read his post on this and it makes sense. with the x2010, you can get such a good lead in the 1st 6 or 7 hours, you can park the car for 8 or 9 hours and come back and run the rest and still win.

for 24 hours of lemans, my X2010 is usually over 150 laps ahead of the 2nd place car. so thats ~7.5 hour lead gove or take. and im sure you can run a faster lap than bob can on that track. my bob wont go ver 240 on the straight when I can hit 270 on it.

Yes sure i should have mentioned that's it's 15.5 hours of actual racing but obviously you still need 24 hours to complete the event ! Otherwise it's just like evil_c5 said, you run 370 or 380 laps and park the car.

Exactly, so even if had everything calculated and wrote down, i always kept an eye on it :scared:
