I was wondering, all this GT Academy has the goal to choose, between all the racing fans, one who can be professional. But what do you think will happen if a professional driver (lets say S. Vettel) tries to do this (Motegi) test? would he be in the top?

Who knows, but we're trying to find pro racing drivers out of gamers, not the other way around. None of the current F1 drivers need to prove themselves on a game, they've already shown they can do it in the real world which I'm sure you'll agree is much more impressive.

Vettel might do pretty good. As I understand it he and most other F1 drives spent a lot of time behind the sim wheel since they are limited to on track practice.

Depends on the driver. Over in iRacing there are numerous real world pro's that are ridiculous fast in sim. Shane Van Gisbergen (V8Supercar Series), Eric Foss (MX5 Cup), Brandon Davis and more. Obviously as far as GT Academy goes though, they're ineligible due to being pro's, but quite a few of them would have no problem finding a spot in the top positions just for kicks.

I would say most of the F1 drivers would easily qualify for the national finals if they got two weeks to attempt it provided they have used sims in their teams. Top teams in F1 have very sophisticated ones. Given how competitive these drivers are, I wouldn't be surprised if one of them would run the fastest time in the world.

They do, but I can guarantee you that the sim they use is not GT5. Many use IRacing and others have their own facilities and proprietary systems.

imo, few of them would be fighting for the firsts possitions, but i'm prety sure most of them would be a second slower or even more than the top one :sly:.
why? it's a probalility reason - there are more people who take part in the GT Academy than in a professional racing career.

btw, do you know if there is any professional F1 driver in GTP? it would be cool try to beat him :D

I admit, it could be quite fun to see how well Vettel, Alonso, Schumacher and co. would do.

On the other hand, I know for sure some drivers (Bas Leinders, Markus Paltalla and Maxim Martin) used GT5 to get used to the Nordshleife before entering the Adac Gt and the 24hr earlier this year !!

Driving a Sim game is not like real life. I guess for any Pro driver, it would be a case of getting used to the Sim and controls, once that is the case there is know reason why they should be quick.

i doubt a pro driver could qualify for gt academy 2 weeks probably aint enough to master the ins and outs of a game that others have been using for 4 years think mr kubica has been getting himself some practice over @ the ferrari academy

I would be surprised if an F1 driver even if they never played GT5 before would struggle to qualify if they use sims at work. All that is required is the same sort of basic concepts to be fast and they already have the right mentality. Don't know about other pro drivers but others with experiences in other sims will definately be competitive and maybe good enough to qualify.

yes i agree with you point i was making was even a mega ain't going to turn up and smash the field

No. Sim aliens are definitely faster drivers than most pros, reason being they can try so many different lines and methods of driving than you could on a real track with a real car, real time and real tires. If a racing driver got on a drove just like he would drive a real car, he wouldn't be fast, because sim drivers who are fast would never drive like that in a real car.
