Whats up with the back/top section of the Nurburg?

Hey All,

I have been testing various cars, and the Nurburg is one of my tests, I have notice a very strange occurance that happens at the back/top 1/4 of the track (i.e. top of the track as the on-screen map)

When driving along this section all the cars seem to slow down, like the track is made of treacle of something, now at first I thought its because its all uphill, but looking at it only some of it is.

Last night, in a BMW 120, I could only get 90mph out of it in this section, where as all of the other places was able to get easily 120mph.

Try it, its really wierd, wonder if this was put in to make the Nurburg lap times realistic?.

Dan.

Also noticed that, in a 120d too! The car just would get past a certain speed (200 something Kmh). Maybe it's beacause it's uphill... or maybe it's just a bug. We need more opinions on this...

yes that part is very slightly uphill, and a BMW 120 isnt a hugely powerful car, so it will struggle for acceleration there, like about every other car in the game too. I am pretty sure it is not a bug

I was just about to say something along those lines.. The Merc SLR certainly doesn't feel very slow along those parts....

Run it in a seriously underpowered car, like the Citroën 2CV, Fiat 500 or the original VW beetle from ´49, and you will feel the uphill section really good. I´d say it´s a pretty steep climb, or at least it feels that way with any of those cars.

I didn't understand very well wich section you are referring to .
Anyhow , this is the altitude profile of the track

Hmmm, makes sense. It's all the way up from Breitscheid to Hohe Acht.

It could very well be an uphill section, but it doesnt "look" like it, could be an optical illusion though.

Although its not as noticable in a faster car, it is still there, its just that its more noticable in a slower car.

Am I reading that table right?, it that a 300M climb?, jebus if it is, that a heck of a climb

Dan.

Do a "reverse" on Nurburgring and you'll see... :)

it is probely a bug that puts your speed wrong or stops you at a certaain speed

Did you read the thread? You slow down, or stop accelerating, in certain cars because it's uphill.

Well obviously - D'uh....

I guess ;)

Definately uphill. The graph above proves it. Thats why you always feel like you are crawling in any car through that section. You think its gonna be really really fast because it mostly straight, but since its all uphill, you get the illusion that youre power has been reduced (when in fact youre power is the same, you just dont feel it as much bc youre going uphill. You can really feel it in M34. The SLR just feels like its topped out, but you later realize it can go a lot faster on the final straight.)

its not just up hill, the second half of the nurburgring is a lot more techical. the first half of the track is an out-and-out speed fest, but from the first banked corner to the second (just before the long straightaway, its more about control than speed. imo its in this section that laps are won and lost.
