What's up with the convertable cars and ugly top

Well, first of, i did a search on the forum and no one seemed to be bothered by it, but I am....

It was to my happy suprise during liscening that finally we see graphics of drivers driving convertable cars with top off. I'm not a graphics designer and I don't know the difficulties, but it is a pain in the a** to see my Shelby Cobra or a AC with ugly bulky tops on. This is not right!!. If they can do it on one car during licensing, they can do it all. Or maybe it's because I don't know how to drop the top with my VERY limited Japanese. What do you think? Anyone?
 
i dun think u can switch the top on and off.... if it's a convertible, it's an open top...

but i could be wrong since i have no instructions of the game... (took me a while to figure out how replay works.... btw is it possible to zoom in on the driver to see him shift 100% of time? right now i can only see him shift on certain shots either in normal mode or drive mode...
 
I saw somewhere that you can choose to have the top up or down (and I've seen pics w/ tops up and down. I can't remember. I think it was on a video showing photo mode a while ago or something. Check maskrider's photo galleries....he shows the translations to most aspects of the game. It may be in there.
 
If you go to the 'free run" mode in GT mode, the real circuits, original courses, etc thing and your car can have it's top down it will ask you prior to running laps in free run, NOT in the race mode.

Races with only 2 cars in it, the top will be down on your car. The other car will always be a closed top coupe or sedan.

Open seaters (LMP cars and F1 cars) don't count as the "open" driver part is limited compared to convertables. You can have 6 LMP of F1 cars on the grid, though it is rare to see 6 open seat LMP cars.

If you enter a race in a convertable, one with 6 cars, the top is always up.

Some (most) convertables can't enter rally races...

Not all convertables can be driven open (i.e. RUF 3400s can't be opened).

(Concerning 'winner') Some people have screwed up ways of enjoying themselves. ><
 
about the topic, I also heard that you could choose to drive open or closed. its before the color choise. I share kensei opinion and I think it is to diffucult for the PS2 to show 6 fully working drivers in cabrio's. Maybe it will be perfect in GT5. Let's hope so.

I cant see that option in free run mode. Where about is it? I have tried looking at Maskrider's translation but i cant see anything about it
 
free run mode... have to try it....
i ran Spider & Roadster with a SL65 (hahaha... shut up...) and all 6 cars have their tops up for some reason.....
also ran the SL65 in Photodrive in HongKong but the top stays open, dun see where i can make it close

are there anyway to choose open or close top in photomode (Photo Travel e.g.) I saw some pictures with open doors in Photo Travel, are those just demo or can you actually do that?

It only comes up as a dialog box on cars that can be run open or closed. it isn't a option on the screen.
 
i tried to go to free run mode (cost 5Cr. -_-" not really free.....) with my SL65, but i doesn't let me choose open or close top.... it's kinda random too when i do races.. sometime it opens, sometime it closes..... photo mode seem to be always open.....

anyone know how to configure the convertible top in any modes plz?
 
im pretty sure in 6 car races all the roofs are down because the ps2 isnt powerful enough for all convertbles to have their roofs down (something to do with graphics) please correct me if im wrong
 
Why have you bumped up a thread from over a year ago to post a piece of information that can easiliy be found in the FAQ's and when the orginal poster is quite likely to have found the answer already?
