whats up with the tools when trying to make a post?

Anyone know whats up with the tools when trying to make a post. I can only type, can't add smilies, links, pictures, anything?

I have just made a post in opinions forum , with great difficulty. Evertyime I tried to preview my post it said I had to type more than 1 character - there was plenty more that 1 character posted.
I tried closing IE and my PC. I then when to Jacks iMac which I have no idea how to use and managed to make my post but none of the editing functions worked - linking, font size, even smilies. So anyway I made my post and then came back to my PC and saw I had some typos and tried to fix them and even though it apparently let me edit it seems that once I save the post again the only change made was that is says I made an edit but none of my changes have been made.
I have just gone back to thread to test making a new post and this time showed up in the preview post part.

Any ideas what went wrong and how to fix if it happens again? And how I can fix my typos

Thing suddenly decided to work.

Moved dancardesigner's thread and merged with Wenders' thread which was in the correct place.

I broke something very early this morning without realizing it, but resolved the issue about an hour later. Everything should be OK at the moment.
