what's with my media players?

I've been trying to watch some of my old saved clips. unfortunately, every player I have ignores the video portion of the clip and only plays the audio. what gives here? and does it being on a Slave hard-drive make any difference?

every one that is compatable with an AVI, since the service pack two updates for XP, reads ONLY the audio track of the movies. including media player, the built in DVD decoder on our machines, Irfanview, even an old copy of Winamp I still have. seems like they've been relegated to audio only since I put a DVD rom into our second computer.

Have you tried www.videolan.org VLC will play almost everything under the sun.

I'm gonna give this a try.

I ran into something interesting when i had a quick peek at how those files are being handled. seems that (among others) WMP has designated AVI's as Audio Only!

something might be messed up with your codecs. Id try VLC first, then try klite codec pack
