Well you can probably tell im not a big car/parts NUT:indiff: but anyway, this has happened to 2 of my cars (the only 2 i have tuned) so i was wondering why this was happening....

I go to tune my car and put all the turbo kits, engines and ect. on, then when i go to drive the car (most recently my 884bhp Audi RS 6 Advant  ) the car is really really bad at turning. When i try to turn while driving, the car doesnt turn but jolts and is un-turnable. I was wondering how i am causing this/how can i improve the cars turning ability at speed???

Thanks:tup:

I see the problem here. You're going too fast in a car that's way too powerful. Slow down. Brake early. Unequip the large turbo. Increase brake force in options. Equip softer racing tires. So many options.

I'm not sure if this will help you but you can change your cars suspensions settings.

I don't know if the extra weight of the additional parts has any impact on the game, but i have an S15 with 400+BHP which has dreadful under steer, but it could be the speed i'm trying to enter corners

Yeah, at speed it just cant turn! I was wondering if there was any settings/parts that would improve steering... as i dont really want to unequip my turbo... :L

just go slower into corners. My problem is when i'm leaving a corner, i have to be very gentle or it understeers off the track.

Yeah, same here i accelerate to exit the corner but the car just wont turn, the understeer is dreadful. It leaves me having to go extremely slow around corners, not speeding up untill there is a straight. :ouch:

If you can't find a good tune for your car, try going into the GT4 forums, they have some nice setups there that have worked well for me. Not much of a difference really besides naming Damper Bound/Rebound is now Damper Extension/Compression but it's still the same thing. Then tweak the settings to your liking.

As for your car, need to change your suspension and if possible, your tires.

Thanks for the advice, i have some soft sport tires equipped so i will be changing my suspention now. Trouble is my 884bhp Audi only goes round the TGTT as quick as my 400bhp Subaru...:nervous:

Maybe i should strip some weight from my car, it does weigh 1900kg after all...:yuck:

Try and lower the suspension, but a little more in the front to increase downforce which will help understeer into turns. and tune the aerodynamics to add a little downforce. i tend to do that with every car i own because i prefer more understeer than oversteer.

When you tune road cars for more power, you may be as fast as a race car in a straight line, but in corners, not a chance. If you think it will handle like a race car, it won't, period. You need to brake alot earlier than you think, and it will seem like you are taking the corners too slow. In reality, you are taking the corners at about the same speed you were before, unless you have suspension upgrades and some racing tires. Turbos make you faster in a straight line. Suspension and tires make you faster in the bends.

Nothing is wrong with your car. Don't take this the wrong way, but you just don't know how to drive it.

You're welcome! TGTT is a fairly technical track, get rid of the turbo for this course, unless it's low lag (stage 1 or 2 maybe?). Suspension set up is critical in technical courses, want to get the most out of those tires. I do most of my tune-ups on Suzuka (full course), good mix of elevation changes, tight corners and long straights. Would do it on the Nurburgring but that's really just too much time wasted.

Either adapt your driving style to your car or adapt the car to your driving style.

Thanks for that, but to be honest I think the main problem im having is as im going so fast down the straight it makes me feel as if im going slow round the corner, but im actually going quite fast. I just need to tamper with my suspention now....

You can tune your cars wrong! When you give your street car 884bhp you have to tune everything else for a proper handling: Wheels, suspension, gears, brakes and so on. When you don´t do this you have a dragster, that only can drive straight.

Its an all wheel drive. Can't ou buy that. . . thing. . . It allows you to vary the amount of torque transferred to the front and rear wheels. Shift the Torque bias to the rear. be careful. at 884hp you may end up with a drift machine instead of a race car. Play with it and find out. Good luck. Btw this was in reference to the Audi as you didn't mention the other car.

Oh and follow what everyone else said too. slower through the twistys

That's why I mentioned that in my post, lol. When you start going alot faster, it feels like you have to go too slow to take corners, but really, you are slowing back to the same, or similar speed as you were before the upgrades.

how the heck did you get the money to do that but not know enough to properly tune it lol??

Hmmm... My guess is that the chassis rigidy might be kicking in. After all the faster your car is, the more likely it is for your car to have rigidy problems.

Rigidity is resilience against deformation. It has something to do with the car's body not changing shape or bending as it goes through bumps and corners.

the Audi is also a front heavy car, and understeer is something its really good at.. Choose another car or live with the consequences.. :)

Its quite simple really. You get a LOT of more speed on the straights and therefore are much more likely to carry a little bit too much speed into the corner. As someone mentioned allready, most audis have a rather unpractical chassis with regards to racing. The engine sits very far at the front, which makes the car understeer.

there are quite a few ways to cure this. As a rule of thumb soften the front and harden the rear to reduce understeer / increase oversteer and vice versa.

If that does not help you can try to put soft racing tires at the front and medium racing tires at the back. This is not very elagant but it definately should do the trick.

Hope this helps,

Alex
