I had to format my PS3 recently, but I backed up my saves on a stick. When I redownload the GT5 patches and put my save back on my PS3 everything was peachy. Then I decided to pre-install some of the game data so the message would stop popping up. It took awhile. 50 minutes I'd say. RIGHT at the very end(the bar looked totally full) it saifd 40 seconds remaining for about another half hour so I finally pressed circle to cancel and nothing happened. I held down the PS button and hit quit game and my PS3 beeped 3 times and my screen went gray, so I unplugged it. Now when I start up GT5 it freezes at random times through start-up and I have to quit game each time. If I make it far enough I still get the 'Would you like to install extra game data?' message. The furthest I've got is the main menu where you select GT Life or Arcade or whatever. After I select GT Life it just stops. The audio and video keep rolling but i can't do anything besides quit game. Needless to say this is very annoying, as I can't get on GT5 at all. Is there any way to fix this besides reinstalling the ridiculous amount of game data alllllll over again?

In short.. No.. Reinstall the game data and the gt5 updates, sorry :(

I read somewhere on here that installing game data doesn't do as much since v2.0. Since that update, it does most of the cars loading in the background. I've seen a lot of people say they don't re-install game data (in-game), so I wouldn't worry about it.

Sounds like a dodgy install to me, Unfortunately you need to delete your game data and download it all again/ When you do it just make sure no one is using your internet at the time to safequard the installation.

:ouch: Guess I'm saying goodbye to my playstation for another 12 hours

disconnect's the PS3 from the net, install the game , then after thats done, turn the ps3 off , let it cool down for about an hour, re start it and download all the patches * it takes about eight hours so that's why you should let the ps3 rest*

Just redownloaded updates, went fine. Went to pre-install data again, froze up right at the end AGAIN.
Really wish I knew why it was doing this..

EDIT: Although it is playable now. I can play the game and do everything(so far) except install that extra data.
