I am really bored. I am occupying myself with stuff like this, so I dont have to do homework.

My favourite animal would be Crocodiles and Snakes. I know SO much about them. And they are the most interesting and most powerful animals in the world.

As far as sheer muscular strength. There is no animal that can exhibit more force than a Crocodile. Not only with its jaws, but its got muscles all along its body that could wiggle itself out of 10 square feet of concrete j/k

I also love snakes. In fact 32% of all vertebrate (animals with a spine) species, excluding fish and whales, are snakes.

And 30% of snakes are venomous. So, almost 10% of land animal species are venomous snake species!

I voted for cats. The big cats are my favorite animals. I could watch them all day. I should exclude Lions from the list because they are despicable. But the Puma, the Leoppard, the South American Jaguar, and the various forms of Tigers are smart, lethal, and beautiful.

I might also have voted for sea mammals, in particular Orca (and other whales), for the same reasons as cats, except they don't stay away from people.

and this might sound a bit odd, but add it with a side of dog, and you got yourself a meal.

So I've got two reef tanks and 9 parrots.

Yet neither one make the list...

Fish and birds were going to be under miscellaneous. But they arent interesting enough because they are generally pets.

I know that there are alot of cool ones like sharks and harpy eagles, but I wanst exactly holding a scientific survey here.

Mile: Why are Lions despicable?

I like Hippos because they kill more people in Africa than any other animal.

In Australia, Saltwater Crocodiles kill more people than any other animal. But I thought it would be something like a Sydney Funnel Web, or the Inland Taipan, considering they are both Aussie's and they are also the most venomous species on earth for each of their repsective fields (snakes, tarantulas).

Does anyone know what animal kills more people in North America than any other animal?

BTW, scientists believe that the Polar Bear is the MOST dangerous animal on Earth. It isnt responsible for a huge human death toll because so few people live with it. But if its encountered in the wild, it is more likely to kill you than anything else. Mainly because it isnt scared of humans because it doesnt have to deal with them as often as most other animals.

I just realised that I have this strange fascination with animals that can easily kill humans.

Polar Bear is the only Mammal on the planet that will stalk a human.

As far as the greatest NA killer,..... hmmmmm,.... Africanized Bumble Bee?

They're not. I just don't like them as much as other big cats. In the cat world they are an exception.

I think it must be either bears or bison. Bears because people refuse to listen to reason and take measures to keep them away, and bison because people think they're docile and approach them when they're really not.

Lizards are cool. Most of them, anyway. I'd like a gecko, but i've got a 5"8 argument against it...

I'll agree with you on the fish. The only good fish is the one sitting on my plate. My wife loves her reef tanks, but if I can't cook it, I'm not going to stare at it swimming around.

As for birds, I'll note "Alex, the african grey" who has been on Letterman multiple times. He can count and recognize shapes, colors, and objects. Including using them in context.

Did you know that a cockatiel ($90 at your local store) can live for 25 years? My two macaws both know to answer the phone with "Hello" when it rings. They have emotions, and can be mentally damaged when you yell at them. It's not unheard for a Macaw or cockatoo to live to be 60 years old. Including some macaws that will be 70-80 years old.

They even acompany me to work on occasion. A dog will be loyal to you to the end of it's days. A cat depends on you on occasion. A bird needs your interaction. Yes, even the cockatiels will get upset if you don't spend time with them.

Take a look at these two sites. www.fosterparrots.com and www.mytoos.com.

Never underestimate a bird when it comes to intelligence.

Well, I just looked it up. The animal that is responsible for the most human deaths in USA atleast is the common deer, Not because they attack, but because you might die when you hit one in a car. But that still isnt the answer I was looking for.

Funny story: I was coming back home from Saskatchewan in my uncles E350 Ford Van (15 passenger). I was in the second furthest back seat, and it was dark out. All of a sudden we heard this sound like a 2X4 hitting the front fender. My uncle didnt even stop, he said we just killed a deer. It was apparently pretty big too because it had quite the rack.

I was about 10 yrs old, so I didnt really have a say in the matter of stopping or not. But I guess, there is an advantage to driving those gas guzzling behemoths.

I am still determined to find out what kills more people in North America than anything else.

Siberian Huskies are quite a handfull. Get a brush and be prepared to excercise it a lot. They like to pull. I tie my Husky's lead to my handle bars and she pulls me around the neighborhood. She loves it. If she doesn't get to run she gets all freaky and annoying.

Parrots are amazing animals. They are a handfull, too. Almost like kids.

Maybe the most dangerous animal in America is the common, abused, and neglected ghetto pit bull.

Straight from CNN:

The critter that humans should fear the most usually is dismissed as a mere annoyance, a pest at a picnic or the pool. But the disease-carrying mosquito, delivering encephalitis, the West Nile virus, malaria, and Dengue fever, makes it far and away the deadliest beast in the animal world. The World Health Organization says mosquitos cause more than 2 million deaths a year worldwide. Another insect, the tsetse fly, kills another 66,000 annually.

Thats true, but I dont consider that part of the Mosquito's defense system. They dont want to kill us! I want to know what animal is most likely to severely maim you, out of an offensive attack.

Awwwww.... those cute paws could rip off your face in a blink of an eye... Awwwww.

Bees aren't animals. Are we including insects?

Bees are insects, of which insects are part of the animal kingdom.

Kingdom: Anamalia - Phylum: Insecta

Thus, Bees = Animals.
