For fun and maybe educational I thought I would ask, what do some of you goons do to prepare before taking to GT6?

This can be something straight up for real in all seriousness, or something that is more relaxed and laid back. Some might be to the point of unbelief, some might even seem fictional and comical.

Me? It's quite simple. Get down with some Pig Destroyer and Gaza or the like, wiggle the DS3 joysticks around a little, get comfortable and away I go. I'd like to learn DS3 joystick discipline geared to GT though. But I'm not sure where to start, if its even a thing or I'm just over thinking.

So, what do you do?

My biggest fear is dehydration. About a half hour before I race I put a liquid beverage in the freezer to get it nice and cold. When it's time to race I take it out and take a couple of good pulls on it and stick another 1 or 2 in the freezer to get nice and cold. :cheers: My beverage of choice:D
 
I only get pumped up for a league race. Seasonals etc don't do it for me.

I like to stick on some music (although I haven't done lately to help me concentrate more, so I listen beforehand), usually starting with The Chain. I also like to lean forward and I even stand up for my first qualifying laps as I use a controller. The last one was something I learned from the Mario Kart Society at uni, as this guy who kept winning did it, so I assumed that it would work for me too :lol:
 
Generally I like to start with a nice cup of hot coffee as I pick up my tablet and read some threads on :gtplanet: and another when I begin to go over my vehicles, look for a new car to purchase, upgrade, and tune. My GT roots go all the way back to the original, so I like to warm up my hands first by cracking every knuckle I can find and then running a lap around the Nürburgring Nordschleife with my newly setup vehicle using a DS3. I too have the fear of extreme dehydration, and as we all know, coffee can be a great cause of that. So I keep a couple ice cold cans of a strong :cheers:next to me. I used an actual vehicle previously to pick these up, so my arms body and eyes were warmed up before waking up to that coffee. It works out, because even with a DS3 I get so into the race that my wife always tells me I actually lean into the turns even though only my thumbs are controlling the car on screen. Then after starting on my rehydration routine I setup my wheel and get to work winning races:gtpflag:
 
Sometimes work is my pre-drive workout. Work is driving a 26 thousand pound truck 300 miles through the most traffic congested region on earth, picking up a 7 ton ballast along the way. Enduring an seemingly never ending onslaught of discourteous undereducated commuters whom haven't allowed sufficient time for travel along the entirety of the route, and doing so with only the accompaniment of the engine's song. Then the fun begins; Arigato Yamauchi san.
 
Whenever I play I always take a minute to recall upon the thought of "I enjoyed content of this quality back in the PS2 days, so I can still enjoy it now." Keeping that thought in the back of my mind allows me to tolerate the standard cars/tracks easier.
 
Everyone seems to be mostly casual and laid back when gearing up to play GT6.

@CraigHyphenO I find that leaning forward helps too with concentration but usually find myself leaning back after a bit then forward again when concentration slips.
 
Until you crash at a 24 hour race of Nuremburg with mechanical damage on leaving you with no headlights, a bumpy ride, and ending up falling behind everyone :banghead:🤬

That sounds like a disaster that would take a miracle to come back from. Maybe standing up could prevent that or maybe try not wearing a bra next time :lol:! Only kidding.
 
My routine for any gaming session is always:

To go to the toilet > grab a huge bottle of water, juice or soda, there's going to be cotton mouth in my near future > carefully structure plenty of cushions for support and wrap a quilt around myself > prepare lots of "Herbal medicine" in advanced for between races/cutscenes/loading screens.
Alcohol used to be involved too but I don't really enjoy it much these days.

Oh, indeed. I do prefer races on the Nordschleife though as the long straight combined with perfect driving allows me the chance to line up straight after the last right, stand up and stretch with my foot on the accelerator, and finish a beverage without having to touch the wheel before let off and cruise section to begin the next lap. This also allows the adrenaline to subside a bit which helps keep your focus on the road.

I wouldn't be surprised if you passed me in the COTW races while doing all of he above. I've really got to step up my game.
 
There's also the random neighbor knocks you have to account for. A box of cookies usually works. Had a little old lady next to us that, for at least a week, swore there was a Lamborghini Aventador in our living room. I had to look behind me at the door and say "Nope no loud Lambo in here. I wish though. My dog ate the remote so I can't turn it down. But this is what I do for a living and Im actually on the clock right now. Hopefully these cookies will help you relax." After a while, I think she just kept coming back for the cookies since after the first couple times I just turned it up louder.:sly::gtpflag:
 
I like to go to Tsukuba with my Nissan Fairlady Z 08' and run a coupole laps with my steering wheel. Especially if I haven't played for a while. the sharp turns help me relearn my steering wheel by making me turn it so much. After 10 laps or so, I'm used to the steering wheel, and I'm ready to race!

would love to but I can't. I got in trouble with my aunt so no gt6 for 2 weeks. sorry.:(
 
Make sure I've eaten or I'm not hungry, start up GT6, go to the toilet, have some chewing gum and a bottle of water within reach, take position behind my wheel, have some pillows in my back and a blanket within reach. And ready to go!
