hiya,

i was wondering if there would be transitional effects from high noon to sunset or whatever during endurance or longer races. also, what wheather will we be driving in? maybe snow for rally, that could be fun, im sure the wet levels will come back. also will track conditions play any part in the physics, i mean besides if its rally or a wet. also any information on a confirmed number of cars/tracks would be awesome.

thnx so much guys, and YAY! i preorded it!

There won't be transitional weather/lighting within races, atleast until GT5.

Theres supposed to be more wet tracks & maybe snow/ice rally stages I believe. Supposed to be 500+ cars & 50+ tracks (100+ in reverse). :)

I'd really like to see an ice-racing series, like the winter series that goes on in France (I think). Essentially, rallycross-type cars on studded tyres driving on sheet ice.

Ice racing would be great in GT4, expand the rally mode a bit, also bring back the hill climb maybe have a couple of hill climbes though not just the Pikes peak.

Ice racing is a good idea, and I think they should put rain conditions randomly on sim races (and arcade ones too, maybe), instead of just on certain rally races.:D

Hill climbs would be awesome, even going down hill :D, Driving in Ice a deff, slip and slide all over the track  (Ice + cars = great fun) back to reality... I hope they add a snowy track for rally racing or even regular road racing, and even if it isnt totally "Realistic" I think PD should show rain coming down and if they add a snow track then snow too, Even add Fog in the higher elevations or wet tracks, I dont care if it isnt total real just for the fun factor, I know he wants the most realistic game but it isnt a true game if you cant have fun right?.. anywho Theres alot I wish for like that but I guess we wont see it until the PS3 comes out and GT5...

As far as weather goes, if you can't bring rain to every track, you can go for snow. Either show or maybe drizzle.

Now when it comes to transitions in the skies, I always like to use "Le Mans 24 Hours" from the PS2. The game had Road Atlanta and Le Mans as transitional venues. With the beautiful chrome mapping on your car (can't say the same for the others), it kind of changes with the time. Anyhow, Le Mans 24 Hours is no Gran Turismo. However, the game does present some nifty ideas to be used in future racing games. As an artist and game player, sometimes I notice the small details rather than the game itself. Sure, it would be plagarism to steal concepts from another game without showing credit. But you can learn from certain games.

The Gran Turismo game engine pushes the PS2's power very well. But it can do only so much. I know that if the Gran Turismo team at PD can study the cycle of day and put it into GT4 or any other GT, it would be amazing. I animated my own cycle of day in a non-racing game, but I could only animate the sky and not the shadows. So, PD will have to study the cycle of day and learn how to imprement it into games.

Even though it is a old title, I suggest you get "Le Mans 24 Hours." Play it, study some of the elements of the racing title, and then think about how they would work in GT.

nice idea and what not but it would only work well if I was working for PD and made the game then id go out and study it but since I dont work for them I personally wouldnt do it because it would be a little waste but like I said its a nice concept but this should be more towards PD then us gamers...
