Silly NOOB question again regarding wheel painting....

Browsing the Dealerships, there are a couple of cars (race cars) that have the front and rear rims painted differently, different colours?
I've looked every where trying to find this option. :indiff:

Is it ONLY those cars, that have this option from the "factory", that allow us to paint front and rear different?

Cheers guys. :)

Not only those cars are the few ones to have front/rear different colours, BUT if you choose to paint the wheels, all 4 will be painted with the colour you selected.

The only mean to have front/rear different colours in the game is to leave these ones with factory colours. Yet.

Okay, thanks for clarifying that mate. 👍

Kinda sucks though....rules for them (PD) and rules for us. :ouch: 👎
If THEY can colour them different from the start, it would make sense to have an available front/rear split in our options? :( Anyway, it is what it is....

PDI create their liveries independently of the Livery Editor often exploiting extra modelling techniques rather than relying on a skin that'd projected onto the car. What they have to do to recreate a car is a lot harder and relies on more resources especially on cars with mixed materials (carbon, chrome, matt etc).

For user generated liveries they've tried to simplify things, A. to make it less taxing on the game/servers (multiple materials and the required assets/layers to get it all to work would reduce performance and take more space on the server) and B. to make it more accessible to the end user.

Whilst games like NFS15/P have spoilt us with livery options, to produce the same effects to Gran Turismo's level of detail would be incredibly hard to achieve from what I gather. Just allowing independently painted wheels would add another layer of paint texture to have to render, times that by up to 24 cars and you see where it's going. The game already has to drop the quality of liveries during a race so I'd much rather they divert effort to the body rather than the back wheels of a car!

Thank you BLiTZ. :)
Your leading paragraph really explains things quite well and I had not considered that option. Reading this I'm like, doh...of course PD would use a better graphic system for original development. :ouch: (red face :) )
Your whole explanation is very satisfying to read and makes a lot of common sense thank you.
When you think about the equation of multiplying by a 20 car pack it does all add up. 👍

BLiTZ, if you happen to read this, may I ask another silly question?
I have seen some guys making liveries and adding car numbers to the side or front windows, much like the Aussie V8 Supercars.
Can this be done easily? I have tried several times with no success. :(
Cheers.

This can be done on some cars but not all. For example you can add decals on the rear windows of Atenza Gr.3, Lancer Gr.3...

This.

Certain cars have solid rear windows so you can paint them as you wish.

Cool. :) Yep, I have found those that have the solid (coloured) rear windows and love them. 👍
But I could've sworn I had seen regular clear windows with race numbers on them, much like they number the cars in Aussie V8's.
Mind you, I have looked for them since and can't find them. LOL Maybe it was the solid window cars I had seen, and perceived them to be normal window glass?? Oh well, cheers guys.

Also the 911 RSR Gr.3 allows decals on the rear window cover
Yes, the 911 is one of my favourites for designing, also a fun car to drive. :D This is one of my latest.
