I guess this is the correct board to ask.

Everyone knows what wheel hop is in Nascar. It's usually always seen on Road Course during braking and downshifting.

How about Nascar wheel hop during acceleration? I have never, ever known wheel hop to occur in acceleration in a Nascar car or truck. There is someone I know trying to tell me that it happens. The suspension and gearing doesn't allow it to wheel hop. Now in drag racing with the gearing and suspension set ups it happens pretty often. But from my knowledge of it, I just don't know of anyway it could happen. If something was broke then yeah may be but it wouldn't be "true wheel hop". So could someone lay down some of their info for me?

... We do?

For something that "everyone knows", I find it strange that this is the first I've ever heard of it.

Nascar wheel hop is....It is a product of too much rear-brake bias or unsuccessfully matching engine revs on a downshift. The result is that the rear tires start to lock, creating a bouncing effect.

You're asking why you never see wheel hop under acceleration.

I think you just answered your own question:

The result is that the rear tires start to lock, creating a bouncing effect.
I've never heard of wheels locking when accelerating, mostly because wheels lock when you brake.

its not seen often due to long gearing and that there is enough torque under acceleration to simply spin the tires compared to having just enough torque to get the tires fighting for grip

Right. In a dragster it can happen of course. But with a Nascar, it's about the gears mostly and that doesn't allow it. And the suspension wouldn't do it like it can in dragsters. There is someone that is arguing with me saying that wheel hop in acceleration in Nascar does happen. He can't show me any proof but he says it does happen.

it does happen but very rarely. It just more controllable than under braking

Is it not just to do with stiffness of suspension? Body flexing, suspension trying to keep up?
