Please ask
I tried a search before asking this question. If there is a post please point me in the right direction.

My question is about the different wheels available for the various cars. Does anyone have any knowledge or insight why certain wheels are only available for certain cars. Examples are the American Racing wheels are available for premium Chevys, the Mustang Mach 1, Dodge Challenger and of all things the VW bus. I have never seen them available on any of the standard muscle cars even if they are Chevys, Dodges or Plymouths. One of the first Challengers I bought had the black NASCAR wheels but then the next one they were not.

Any explanation or help would be greatly appreciated. Again I apologize if this was covered in another thread that I just could not find. I did try multiple questions in my search. Thank you.

I do not know why honestly. I love the Enkei RPF1 wheels. In GT5, I can only have them on a few cars, but in real life they have sizes for nearly any car. I wish PD would unlock all wheels for all cars. I do not think we would see that with GT5.

Unfortunately, every standard that you can change wheels on has the exact same set of 15 or so wheel options. Only the premiums have a (somewhat) varied selection.

Why they didn't just make all wheel choices available for all cars is yet another of the great mysteries of GT5.

I don't have the slightest clue why they would have certain types of wheels to match a certain type of car whether it be by country or whatever. I think it would make more sense for cars which have 4 lugs to take only 4 lug wheels (always did this back in GT4 because I'm so darn pedantic) than muscle car style wheels on muscle cars for example.

The GT4 wheel shop was an absolute winner, goodness knows what confused notion led PD to take a huge step backwards from it.

GT5's wheel selection is horrendous compared to that in other GT games. I hate the fact that there's only like 20 wheels at most for certain cars, and even at that, some wheels have three or four color choices in that selections.

Unfortunately, like already stated, certain cars have certain wheels.

While on a "wish" topic, i'd love to have GT4's ability to install other car's wheels. The wheels for the premiums are already modeled at a high-def degree, so it would be awesome to use some of those wheels on other cars. I'd definitely throw on some V-Spec R35 rims onto some other cars.

I'd speculate that the large list of wheels from other games was ditched when the renders were changed to high def.

On another note, not many premiums can have Enkei ES-Tarmacs installed. I know of only the Citroen C4 that can have em, but not many more, and to add to that woe, the wheels have a strange glitch to where it acts improperly to the environment. At night, the wheels are still bright as day, it's so weird

Thanks to all for the comments. I guess Kaz is the only one who knows the answer. I guess that means we will never know.

Having only just bought a PS3 & GT5, I thought I was doing something wrong or had yet to attain a certain level to have access to a wider selection of wheels.

But no, seems they are just not there. This is one of the most disappointing aspects of the game I have yet discovered as it takes away much of the fun I had in customising my cars in GT4 and gives me little incentive to get back into photomode :(

I guess Kaz is the only one who knows the answer.

The more I think about it, the less Kaz seems to know what is going on with GT5... seems like his team just go off and do their own thing based on some vague instructions with no further monitoring.

I think he knows, but he doesn't care...

Not likely; but the way things go sometimes, it wouldn't surprise me.
