Hi guys!

I know there's somewhere in GTPlanet already a thread this address this issue but, I'd like to know if any of you guys have tried yet/own one of the wheel stands available on the market, like wheel stand pro and fanatec rennsport wheel stand. From the contact I have with you both here and as well online, I'd like to hear your experience with this, if any.

Like I said earlier to some of you I actually own a wheel (Logitech DFP) but most of the time its stays put in a box: I don't live in a big apartment, so I mainly play either on my living room or in the kitchen television (when my wife's awake and watching something on the living room tv), so to have the wheel always ready and set, its not an option (unless, I want to face divorce...), and having to take the wheel out of the box, set it up, and then getting the whole thing in box again after racing, day-after-day, it's a pain...

So I'm considering one of these two wheel stands, or any other that you might know and think of that want to suggest. It seems a practical way of having the wheel always ready-to-use (just pick the whole thing together - wheel+pedals+stand - unfold it and connect it to the PS3).

My mays doubt is "how stable is that thing" while racing, specially on such a game as SCC where constant wheel corrections/movements are needed, and sometimes real hard turnings?

Thanks in advance for your opinions 👍

I'm in a simialr position in that no way is my wife going to accept a permanent set up in the house!

I've had a wheel stand pro for 18 months now... absolutely brilliant bit of kit.

It's pretty much rock solid... I've played GT5P with FF at 10, NFS Shift and the demo of SCC on it with no problems at all.

Takes seconds to set up when you want to use it and packs down flat and sits behind the couch when not in use.

Also know some others who have one and are very happy too.

Hi Stotty, thanks for replying!

One of the things I've read about the Wheelstand Pro is that, opposite to the Fanatec one, it's limited on height adjustment to 68cms which, according to what I've read, is too low when you're sitting in a chair, rather then on the couch. Is this a fact, and if so, how much does negatively influence the driving?

Thanks

I have the Fanatec Rennsport wheelstand. I have zero complaints about it. It's heavy, rock solid and is perfect for how i use it.

Thanks for the feedback jason... have any of you guys tested other wheelstand from other brand? (jason - wheelstand pro / stotty - fanatec)

I'm really getting interested on this, and I'd go likely for the wheelstand pro, since I can get it here in Portugal and near Lisbon, rather than have it express-mailed all the way from Poland. Unless that 'height adjustment' thing is really limited in which case I'd probably order the fanatec from Germany. So stotty if can enlight me here please!

i have never used the wheelstand pro. to me the Fanatec stand seems like the better stand.

Hi Bullie, back in 2004 when I bought a DFP I got also a game frame. It was, at the time, the best I managed to find on sale in Portugal. Though not very stable, it's sturdy and offers good adjustment options. I believe that when I update to a better wheel with a more fluid rotation the stability "problems" will be less important - though they're easy to adapt to. I also wouldn't have a place to set up a full seat and stand; I keep the stand in a corner of my living room where it's more or less inconspicuous and easy to set in front of my sofa. These days you'll surely find better options on the market. :)

Dunno, I use mine whilst reclining on my comfy couch!

Hi all,

My first post here.

I've got the wheel stand pro and it really works a treat. I don't like playing in a chair or couch because it's more of a truck driving position. Instead I use it with a pouf and open the stand to about 120º (instead of 90º) and it's perfect. Sitting low with legs stretched to the pedals, really good racing position. I'm 1,90m, if it works for me, it must work for most ;)

Btw, I'm from Portugal too and got the stand delivered from Poland to Sweden (long story) in 3 working days. They send you a tracking number to follow the package all the way to your door :)

Happy racing,
Rui

PS. I'll be back soon for my comments on SCC.

Benvindo!

I've got this contact from what I believe to be their distributor in Portugal (at least I got it throught the wheelstand pro site) - I thinks its from Mem Martins - Sintra.

Just to update saying that I finally made up my mind and order it online today from a portuguese shop. Hopefully I'll get it Wednesday at home. I'll let you now first impressions. Thanks again for all your opinions.
