Thx for the kind words and commiserations guys:tup:
and to Jason, Chris, Choate and all the guys for speaking in my favor, it means alot to me coming from the friends & talents that have my deepest respect
It was a confusing moment forsure.
I was later made aware of some factors that were completely out of my hands that influenced the decision; however, dubious they may have been, at least helped make sense of the whole thing. The lead instructors weren't too happy about how it went down either. It was nice to get there view of the whole thing.
I was wondering how it would be justified on TV.
Apparently by making It look like I was a total goof in the car.

Those close-up black/whites made it look like I was in the twilight zone
The interesting thing on the episode was that they played my first 2 runs of the drifting session, with rally driver Bryan Svenson correcting me on my errors, (painting an impression that It wasn't going to well) but ironically, as hard as that guy was to please, Svenson had deemed at the end of the event that me & R1600 turbo (Jason Miller) had the best performance. (Hope i'm not giving anything away? Not sure if they would show the event later in the series with me edited out?)
I would've thought the drifting would've made for great TV, but they only showed a couple of shots.
unfortunetly The most challenging thing we had done to that point: driving in the highly changable wet conditon on slicks, actually racing for once, employing race craft, passing, defending, overall speed, consistency, car control, throttle control, adaptabilty to an ever evolving situation, and in general doing what a racing driver should be doing, had little value in informing my fate
But, i'm still all about what the Academy is doing for racing and know anyone of the guys could've come out with the overall win in the competition and performed well in RL for Nissan/Sony. I'm so stoked for Bryan, who is already representing us well. (so far, he was faster than his team-mate Ryan Daziel

....that guy has some serious titles to his name)
I wish they would've showed less of me, my wife, my house, and car and more of the top32, and the Orlando event and the drifting and the racing in the karts. There was a lot of great battles going on that could've made for good TV. they ate up a ton of time with the personal stuff
The Digital portion of the competition in Orlando was great too. There was some clutch races by Nick, Sean, and Sebastien and great passes through out as well as great performances by the rest of the top 32 which got virtually no air-time. They deserved the recognition for performing so well
