Where are people getting my account info?

This is an odd situation, and maybe someone could lend some insight.
I created a new PSN account on my PS3, simply for the purpose of trading/backing up stuff with my main account.
This account has only one friend, and that is my main account.
I have never told anyone what this account is called, nor have I posted it anywhere.
I have my main account listed publicly and I am glad to accept friends requests from the GT5 crew.

A few days ago, I logged into that account and it had a friend request.
It was from a name I had never heard of, and there was no message with the request. I declined and deleted the request.
Today, I just logged in and it had another friend request. It was not the same name as the first time. There was no message with the request. I declined and deleted the request.

It's not really a big deal, I know, but I'm curious how people got this account info and why they would be making friend requests to it.
You have to know someone's account name in order to friend request, right?
As far as I know, there is no match-making, friend suggestion type service that my account would be popping up on for people, is there?

Any info would be appreciated.
Maybe next time I'll give my account a nasty and disgusting name that no one would want to be friends with! :lol:
 
It would be your friend either giving out your name, or making new accounts and trying to add you.

No human knows this account name besides me.
And this account only has one "PSN friend" and that is me (my real account).
And the requests it is getting are not coming from people that my real account is friends with.
 
Did you race online with this account? coz if so, there is a menu within the XMB that you can see "people you have met" when playing online and they can either add you from the list...

just a thought.
 
Could be they're just seeing your PSN name here at GTP, which I'm looking at right now sitting right under your avatar?

BKviper is too cool of a name. Perhaps you should make it BKdemio or BKavantgarde. Ha ha.
 
Maybe your 2nd account is tired of the same-old-same-old and trying to branch out a little? :dopey:
 
I experienced the same as well back on GTA IV & some other games. From time to time, I receive Friend Requests from people I didn't even met or know. I take it as an assumption that people just selected accidentally or that my PSN is exposed to the public (to a certain extent) or something, but I still have some suspicions & weirdness. So altogether, I just ignore them & leave the requests piled up (I don't bother declining because the process takes time, & I have some impatience lol).
 
Next time accept and ask this question.
 
Maybe you picked an ID that's too generic and people accidentally send you requests.

That maybe right as i get loads of request , and when i ask the sender why they say " we were playing *game xxxxx last night together*". But we weren't it was someone with a close PSN name to mine. Maybe this is the problem the sender has typo'd the PSN name. Just ask then how they know you that is all i do.

Have you played any games on this new account?

If you go under "Recently Met Players" in the friends category, you can add any of those people as a friend just by pressing triangle. This list is populated with anybody you met/played with or against in any online game or in Home.

Play any game online and everyone else in that race will have your account saved in that list.
 
I suggest you accept the friend request next time, then ask them how they got your ID. You can remove them when you done.
