So far as I can tell, he left Renault, went to Force India, stayed for a bit, Moved up to Ferrari to stand in for Massa, then next season, Massa came back so he was 3rd driver, and then he was at Le Mans, i believe, driving in GT2. Now where is he? He has quite literally dropped off the face of the planet (In my mind at least)

He's still doing something at Ferrari (though not a test driver anymore) and still racing LMS for AFcorse.

Do you not follow motorsport?

Former F1 driver Giancarlo Fisichella claimed his first sports-car victory in the GTE Pro class (at the Spa 1000km a fortnight ago) behind the wheel of one of the AF Corse team's pair of Ferrari 458 Italias. Fisichella and teammate Gianmaria Bruni won by 11 seconds, ahead of Dominik Farnbacher and Allan Simonsen in the similar Farnbacher team Ferrari.

He was at Road Atlanta/Petit Le Mans last year.
I forget if he was at Sebring.
Forget which team he was driving for, I believe Risi but I'm not sure.

And he's still Ferrari's 3rd driver.

The man's a dream-job:

He gets to drive for the best motorsports series in the world, and at the same the world's most popular F1 team can call him to come test the car for them if needed.

Fisi is being "looked after" by Ferrari. He went to them in their hour of need, and now that they don't need him any more, he's being taken care of by them. They did the same thing for Mika Salo, who had paid drives in Ferrari race cars for at least ten years following his cedeing a GP victory to Eddie Irvine in 1999.
