....charging $58,750 for ANYTHING with their name on it!!!
Was watching a commercial and saw "Lease for 720 a month". I'm sitting there "LEASE WHAT FOR WHAT FROM WHO?!?!?! GET THE 🤬 OUTTA HERE"

Yeah you guys came a long way from what I remember of your cars back in the day (barely road legal pieces of junk) but gimme a break.

Let the talks begin.

That's the base price too. Fully loaded is $66,650.

It does have 429HP though. Don't get me wrong... I still wouldn't buy it.

To be fair, they have made leaps and bounds in quality. Hyundai has made some major investments to deliver a product that is actually quite competitive on price in comparison to what they perceive are their competitors.

I figure your talking about the Equus. Well I'm first going to say that if you sat in the back you would not think this car is a Hyundai or that it cost around $60,000. I have a friend who has one of these and I have to say that I love sitting in the back and the back only. With the TVs, massage chairs that recline to almost 180 degrees, and a nice beverage cooler you will forget about what you are riding in. The front however is well...Hyundai. It used to not make sence to me until I recently purchased an 2012 Audi S4. The cost of mine was about the same with all the options as a nicly optioned Equus. Here is the thing though my S4's wheelbase-110.6 inches and the Equus-120 inches. The same price for a car that is about 10in longer and it has massage chairs. Wow. This also rivals cars that are upwards of $40,000(BMW 7 series, Merc S-Class). I think there is a market for these things to those people who want to look and feel like a boss in their car but can't afford the $100,000 up boss prices.

There's always been high dollar luxury Hyundais. We just never saw them outside of Asia.
Well they better tuck them suckers right back into Asia.

Yeah I saw it was base. I didn't even bother to look at what the extras would cost cause I knew I would have REALLY flipped.

That's even worse.

Hyundai really are like the guys selling bootleg stuff out of a garbage bag near Canal street.. Yeah, it looks like the real deal, until you notice that the logo is upside down and it stops working as soon as you fly home.

I remember the first time I saw a Genesis sedan I thought it was a Mercedes, until I got a bit closer and I realized Hyundai just completely ripped off the design. The Equus is essentially pulling the same trick with the exterior styling.

They're getting better, but I really think they need to stick to small, cheap cars and leave luxury for automakers willing to create something unique and worthy of it's price tag.

They could have at least made the wood real. It looks fake as can be.

The only place the wood isn't real is on the gear lever....

...the rest is the real thing according to the spec.

I would add that getting wood finish to photograph well in a car interior can be a nightmare, it often ends up looking fake and almost never given a good representation of the true look.

As for the car, well I wouldn't buy one, but I must confess that I don't understand getting worked up over its existence. If someone buys it and loves it then as it doesn't affect me at all I really don't care (well other than every car sold keeps my customers happier and me in a job).

Scaff

👍 Exactly.

Now I'm not defending Hyundai or anything, I'm just rooting for the underdog, but I did like they way they went with the Genisis Coupe and sedan. Hyundai is what Hyundai is- a car company that smartly poked their heads out when the economy was at its lowest point. These cars may not be made as well as a big German automaker's but they are sure as hell affordable. For example, I was at an Audi dealer and I honestly didn't know what I wanted. I saw this A8 and they are about the same size as the Equus. I loved its big
W12 engine and really everything about it...except the price. $135,000, yeah ouch. So this Hyundai is for people who can only afford around $60-70,000 but don't want something small like an A6 or an E-class. Bang for the buck is what I call it.

Wow, what's with all of the hate on Hyundai? How is it any different than Acura (Honda), Lexus (Toyota), or Infiniti (Nissan)? Is it fear of change or just hate for the sake of hating?

There's next to nothing out there that could compete on performance, accessories, styling, price, and practicality against my Genesis Coupe. I could've gone with a Mustang GT, but it would have been a base model whereas mine is fully loaded. I could've gone with a 370Z, but only would have had 2 seats. The G37 is $7000 more. The STi/EVO are both $8000 more and nearly double the insurance rates.

Where does Lexus get off selling a Hybrid LS for 112,000? The price of the Equus isn't that far fetched with the inflation in today's economy. How about a $40,000 Chevy Volt...not factoring in dealer prices and all of that happy stuff.

I don't know what the big deal is.
