Where to get a "good" hit counter?

This is what I don't need: A huge, ugly, page-hit counter that you put on the page.

I'd prefer something that sends me an email, or an account I can view, which can give me the information privately. The world doens' need to know I have five or 500 hits, or whatever. I'd like to know, though.

Still, I'd imagine you need to put something on the site to get the service for free.

Any ideas or suggestions?
 
Doesn't most webhosting companies provide such services? Ok, then it's not for free, I know. Anyway I got an excellent statistics service provided by mine. I just log on to a page that contains all I need and tons of other statistic features.
 
StatCounter should help you out, pupik! :)

Edit: On my old website, I had a page given to me by my webhost that I could type in my address bar and it would show me all of the hits I had gotten in each month of the year. 👍 Not sure what it was called though.
