Where to go?

Hey everyone! I just got GTA3 the other day, and it is awsome! I have completed a good deal of the beginner races (well, the ones that i can compete in with the cars i have), but i am not sure where to go now. My best car is my Miata (a highly tweaked one), and i cant seem to get any farther in the game with what i have. I am now not sure if it would be better to get some more money and keep tuning up the Miata (i.e get better tires...like the custom ones), or if i should spend my winnings on a better car. Thanks for any advice! :D

Get around 40,000Cr, buy either a R34 skyline or the Mustang Cobra R, if you get the R34 it will need tuning a little, it will win the beginner races, all it can enter exept the GT World, it will need sme seriouse tuning for that, but get the Mustange and spend your change on some more power and a racing gearbox and that should win the speedway race in the GT World which will give you 10,000Cr a race. Or enter the Amature all stars, win that and get a Spoon S2000 race car prizee, give that the NA tune and that will win the GT World cup outright.

Thanks for the tips! I forgot to mention i also have the Silvia K's (S13 1800cc,J) and a tweaked Vitz. I have been getting a good deal of money from the GTWorld Speedway race with my miata (it has about 340hp, and when i change the gearing around, it takes that race pretty easily...except for the fact that it doesnt grip very well, so i have to slow down quite a bit around the turns :( ). I guess i will go for the R34, and try ot win more of the beginner races. I guess i still just need more practice though ;) Thanks again, and if you have any more tips, let me hear them! :D

Use the Search button, and Type the word Compendium.

You should find DerAlta's Compendium of how he beat the game.
Lots of great info there.

www.deralta.net will help you along quite well.

My suggestion would be the Mustang. In fully trimmed mode, it will take the FR-pro level races. It's a well rounded car in less than full blown mode.

My suggestion for your current car would be tires. In any upgrade situation, tires are the most important. You may have 500 hp, but if you can't put it on the pavement, it does no good.

Good luck,

AO

Der Alta, thats what i figured, but i dont know which to get. I already have the racing tires, but i dont know which ones are best next. The listings are the T1, T2, etc. I have about 35,000 right now. Which would you reccomend?

BTW, i decided to go with the mustang, and i gave it a test ride completely untweaked, and i seemed to have the same problems i had in the miata (i cant seem to keep up with the competition around corners).

Thanks again for all of the help everyone...great tips! :D

Yeah, I just raced the First Enduro until I got the f/90s and then the rest of the game was a breeze...

But that is cheap and later I figured I would restart and do it the right way, only because there is something about beating a game the way it was ment to be beaten you know?

The softer tyres will give you better grip but they will wear out quicker, go for some medium hards, they will give good grip and do well in 10 lap races. To improve cornering more get the racing suspension and the brake balance controller along wit racing brakes, the controller is a valuble piece of kit, set the front brakes generally between 15 and 20 and trhe rear between 10 and 15. Keep the front stronger than the rear, have a har suspesion setup as well, I use it harder that alot of people though so I wouldn't take my advice on suspension.

Just a little update: I got the Mustang, and have put a little bit of tuning into it (not nearly as far as it could go). I then went to gtvault.com and got a setup, and just got 1st in a race that i previously got 6th! :) I dont know if it is the car, the setup, or the softer tires  Anyway, i just have one more very "newbish" question for you guys. In regards to tires, once you buy them (such as the super soft ones), do you have them forever, or do you have to buy them again when you replace them at a pit stop. Also, how do you know when to go in for a pit stop. It isnt really important to me now as most of the races I run are only about 2 laps, but when i get to the longer races, how do i know? Thanks so much!! :D

Hey!
To answer your question-no you do not have to pay for tires each time you pit and when you get to the longer races there is a picture with wheels on it. When the wheels are now they are blue. Through the race they change color. When they are darc orange or red it means its time to change your tires.
Have a good time on GTP and Merry Christmas:)

Another good (although slightly more expensive) choice is the Z06 Vette. Put slicks on, and tune it to 400 horses or more. Car has considerable tuning potential from there.

I will look into that Slicks :) My biggest complaint about the mustang is its tendancy for the rear to slide out when getting back on the gas in turns (thats understeer, correct?). I get on teh gas gently, but it still seems to get away from me. Its almost like it has more power than it knows what to do with ;) Thanks again for all of the great tips!

understeer is when smoke comes from the front tires. Oversteer is when smoke comes from the back and the back will get a little "tail happy" and kick out on you. and the mustang has an oversteering problem.

Yeah thats oversteer, softer tyres will help with that, make sure the rear suspension isn't too soft as well. Get the racing brakes and the Balance controller, thoes will cut down your stopping distance alot.

Understeer and oversteer basicly explain them selves...heres the simplest way ove explaining it, understeer, your car doesnt turn enough, oversteer- you car turns to much

So if i wanted to correct oversteer, i would want to make the suspension on the rear part of the car stiffer (i would do that with the spring bound and rebound? Well, i can find that out in the suspsnsion guide :) ). I will look into the brake balance controller (the setup i am using calls for it anyway - the one by Fumes fomr gtvault.com). Thanks again, and sorry for dragging this discussion so off topic :)

I was just in the same spot yesterday (I just got GT3 on boxing day :D) and after modding my starter Miata to nearly 300hp, I went out and bought the Evo VII RS. It worked really well for me with minimal upgrades, and it can also make a decent rally car. Right now I've put A LOT of money into it (well over 100,000cr) and it's at 600hp, and is easily taking all the races it enters in amateur mode. I'm right now working on getting an S licence so I can enter it in the Like the Wind race, so I can get a Mazda 787.

I doubt your EVO VII will win like the wind race, but hey if it does i sure would like to hear about....my best option for you if you want to win like the wind with ease win all gold in rally races and get yourself the Escudo Pikes Peak, evn without the stage 4 turbo you will destroy the other cars. What tyhe hell give the EVO a go aswell:tup:

Just use the fastest car possible for that, it's so boring, setup the Escudo so it does wheelies to keep yourelf entertained for 20 laps if you do that race.
