Hi all, First real post (even though I joined in 2005 apparently)
I was of the 5 that was flown out to LA for Racer X this year and when I saw that I was about 2 seconds behind in only 3 turn lap, I knew I didn't have what it took to be in the top 4 to move on to the second round. So I did what anyone would do with a free E3 pass. I left the competition station and just walked around E3 for hours (worth it BTW)
.
Anyway, now that the live GT Academy is going, I've run into the same issue. I'm good (relatively...~700th in the nation as of this afternoon), but I'm not competitive (about 4.5 sec from the lead pack).
I want to get better. So I loaded some of the leaders laps and watched them. I've read on some forums on how they are increasing their lap times. But there isn't a key "how to" that I've been able to learn exactly.
What I keep hearing is "...I just downshifted to get the rotation..." and things similar about this "rotation".
What exactly is that and how is it achieved? I see it in game replays, and I watch the pedal pressure to try to replicate, but something isn't translating to my play. I always end up sliding off, not slow down enough, or lose way too much speed in the corners.
I try to follow the ghosts of the leaders, and they seem to brake later, not on the brake as long, but slow down for the turn in faster than I can.
Anyway, where is a place to discuss advanced technique like this in order to improve my times? I've scoured this forum and can't seem to find any subthread along these lines.
Thanks,
