Okay. This is the ultimate poll dealing with driving set-up. A combination of "What view do you use," "Buttons or Analog", and "Manual or Automatic" all into one. I use the First Person, Analog Steering, Analog Gas & Braking, and Manual Transmission set-up. In GT1 & 2, I used the third person view, steered with the left analog stick, gassed/braked with the buttons, and used an automatic because I didn't know I had the option of using the right analog stick for gas/brakes. In GT3, I switched to using a manual transmission full time and the first person view because my first car was the PT cruiser, and I simply could not see what was in front of me. But I find that the first person view works better for me in GT3 anyway.

First Person, Digital Steering, Digital Gas/Braking, Automatic Transmission

Thats me. Its always been that way for me. I just cant get used to the other setups.

I bought the Logitech wheel specifically so I could enjoy analogue steering, accelerator and brakes - and those dinkly little flick switches behind the spokes of the wheel just BEG for manual transmission (wouldn't use anything else in games or real life).

Oh crap I voted for the wrong one. For me its actually Third Person, Digital Steering, Digital Gas/Braking, Automatic Transmission. :)

I forgot to add the steering wheel option. Wish I could edit the poll........

EVERYONE forgets the steering wheel option!

I've always used third person, analogue stick for tgr steering, and the analogue buttons for gas and brake.

Umm, u missed the wheel out m8, i think u can edit the poll.

I prefer Bumper View, Steering Wheel on simulation mode!, pedals and either Auto or Manual tranmission either way i dont mind about gearbox, i like to use the paddle shifts.

im really awful with steering wheels so its ok leave it off ;)

I don't know about you, but I use Third Person, Digital Steering, Digital Gas/Braking, Automatic Transmission.

I have to use the first person view to do anything reaasonable. I prefer to use the manual trans, just like IRL. I don't know how people use digital steering without looking like a drunk driver on course; I learned that trying to keyboard steer way back in NASCAR '96 on my Macintosh. I started out using the supposedly pressure-sensitive buttons for gas and brake, but mosulation was difficult, so I switched to the analog stick.

I would definitely like to get a wheel and pedals for the PS2, but I heard the Logitech unit doesn't offer much in the way of force feedback, and can be buggy anyway.

I started with the left analog knob as steering, X as accelerator, Triangle as brake, R1= shift up, R2=Downshift. Third person.

I have since graduated to using left stick= Steering Right Stick + Gas/Brake, and R1=shift up;R2=downshift, and The bumper cam view.

Manual tranny. Due to Real life driving, Using engine as a braking system.

Also...I've noticed that there is a viewport difference (Perspective, and distance) between the Third person and bumper cam view. Anyone else notice this? Seems like the Bumper cam is compressed.

Have been looking for a Steering wheel.
Must convince wife....She wants a new Bird cage.

All digital and manual transmission, but they are a little analog too! Works perfect!

Third Person, Analog Steering, Analog Gas/Braking, Manual Transmission

How can you guys use digital steering? I only use it on the Test Course... easier to keep the car on the line with it. But, how do you guys use it on other courses? Isn't the response time too slow?

I use First Person, Analog Steering, Digital Gas/Braking, Manual Transmission, which is basically the typical setup. I've tried using analog gas/braking, and it does go faster, but I don't like the feel of the controller in that position... I prefer the controller cradled in my hands. :D

I use:

Third Person, Analog Steering, Analog Gas/Braking, Manual Transmission

I use this setup the most. But I usually use the first person view with an F-1 car. All other cars I use the 3rd person.
