You've probably figured out by now that I like my votes :D

So without further ado, I would like to see what your favorite 86 is and why; mine's the GT86 generation because I like it's styling more than the current one, for example.

Let's see which one really is/was the best gen, shall we?
 
For me it's gotta be the AE86!
Yeah it's a cliche choice but I can't ignore the fact that the car itself is something that nowadays we just don't see anymore: a rear-wheel drive sporty commuter that is simple, light and a really versatile choice (also has a lot of tuning potential but we can say on all 86es).
And yeah, there's also all of that Inital D/Touge mythos surrounding it, even without that, the car still stands on its own merits :cheers:
 
Always going to be the AE86 Trueno. You can thank GT1 for that, plus exactly what the poster above said. The car just strikes that perfect balance being your simple daily driver, but also giving you that oh so satisfying feel you get from the vibes of driving a sportier car.

To be honest it would be the same argument for me but with the GT86... I like it more 'cause it's simply more modern but not as soft-looking as the GR86. Where I'm from they are/were quite popular and prices for a second-hand one are pretty cheap compared to new cars (around 11,000 USD). Get your hands a sweet manual, preferred paint choice and some taillights and exhaust mods and your living the dream on a budget :D

While the hachu-roku is a neat car, third gen by far. Although I prefer the BRZ variant.
 
I think as time goes on, I grew more fondly of GT86. Even if it's bare and a little "unrefined" compared to the GR86. Back then, I was instantly hooked by the orange paint when it premiered at the Tokyo Auto Show in 2011. A bit bummed out they didn't stick with those rims for the production models. Nowadays it feels just right exterior-wise.

And in 2012, I was in Japan and got the Tomica version of it in red. However, because I was eight at the time I played with it a lot. But could you blame me then?

Interior-wise just by looking at it, it has that 11th-generation Corolla feel that might seem a bit drab compared to the GR86. I have sat in one, and it was alright I guess. Still would have picked the BRZ when it comes for the 3rd generation.

It's great that MF GHOST barely made a bump in prices (because of how terrible it is in hindsight), so used prices isn't that much of an ask over here at least. However, even if I'm only carrying an automatic-only license, even the prices are just about the same if not cheaper in some cases.
