So I won the Toyota Minolta from the LTW aspec race and while its cool, its overused in online LM races. I've bought the audi LM car but it won't keep up with the minolta and I want something that isnt so easy to get for online LM races. Which of your cars in that class out perform it? Should I buy the 787 or holdout for something else from the UCD?

The MINOLTA is a tough one to beat, I'm sure there is some though..

The sauber or gt one. The gt one has really smooth handling.

Thanks everyone! Just wanted to make sure I didn't waste my money on the wrong car, I was about to click purchase at the 787b screen before I said ehhhhh I better ask the vets at GTP!

GT-One and Pescarolo Courage C60.

The Peugot 905 will beat it. It's the one car I turn to when I don't want to use one of my two Toyota 88CV's. I've only seen it once in a UCD or OCD so I bought it and prefer it to either of the late model 908's. The R92 or R89 are good, but I just can't do as well against the Toyota 88 compared to when I'm in the 905.

:)

The R8 Race Car '01 is very fast through the corners but loses out in the straights, just by a little though.

If you drive well the Bentley will also do a job on the Minolta. But I love the audi's, tuned right they drive wonderfully.

Because the Minolta is so easily acquired, the Sauber is the holy grail of this class in my book (acquiring-wise). 787 and 905 are personal faves as well.

If I could have only one?... Minolta. No question.

I would classify them as follows:

1) GT-One
2) R8 (either)
3) Pescarolo '05
4) R92

I've hot lapped them all on Nurburgring many times each after customizing the tranny, LSD, etc. on them all to get a sense for which one, if any, can get close to the Minolta, and the Sauber Merc is the closest. Based upon my limited testing, the Minolta is still faster than the Merc by an 8 second average. They are both stable platforms, and both take the turns better than the R89, R92, Pesky's and GT-One. The R8 doesn't have the power, nor can it compete with the Minolta's downforce. The 787 is not as fast. The Bentley is nice, but not as stable. The Peugots (905 and 908) are also nice, but again, not as fast or as stable. This has merely been my experience, having tried different setups to get the best feel for the way I drive, therefore, you may have a different experience. I would suggest hot lapping them yourself as well. I like the 'Ring merely because it has a good combination of turns and straights, and really tests how well the car will behave when touching the berms on the turns.

As a side note, my favorite to drive (especially with Sport Soft or Racing Hard tyres) on the Ring after all was said and done is the McLaren F1 Race Car. It doesn't even come close with the big daddies mentioned above, but it was easily the funnest to drive for me. The back tyres come out on the turns perfectly and make driving pure joy. :)

R92 or R89 should keep up.

Not sure, but the XJR9 might also be able to keep pace, but don't take my word for it.

The xjr9 isn't quite as good as the other group c cars, but that's according to times I've raced against it

Nice to see that many people vote for different cars.

It actualy shows that they are very close,
and it coms down to what car is best suited for your driving style.

:sly:

For me personally I am by far the fastest with the Pescarolo C60 Hybride, but that just may be because it seems to suit my style the best. I think what is probably the case is that the MINOLTA is the easiest to master, hence it being heralded as the fastest, when in fact in the right hands any of them can run equivalent times.

You see in my eyes, i've never looked upon the Minolta or 787 as 'the best', although they clearly are the most respected cars based on a myriad of posts here. I think i was so so keen to get my hands on these two that once i got them and ran them for a bit i raised cash to get the Audi's and Pescy's that they took over my time. I think i really am an LMS man and only these threads have made me realise this. So thanks. Off to run the GT-ONE now...oh but how about the NSX prototype, or even the RM ISF.......ohh man i love this game!!!!!!!!

I enjoy driving the 787b out of most of the LM's. It's an animal.

Sauber Mercedes C9 Race Car '89

Just bought the Pescy, and after some tweaking I've got it within a second of my time around the slower tracks like deep forest and autumn. It doesn't seem to have the straight line power of the Minolta, I'm hoping to get the GT1 or Sauber next and compare them. So far my ranking of my current big time cars are:
1-Minotla
2-Pescarolo
3-R8
4-Citroen
Next step down
1-Mclaren BMW
2-Toyota 7
3-GT LM
4-Furai

Which Citroen?

this is one of the most fun to drive LM cars, my second is the R8... not the absolute fastest but a blast to drive. but the Sauber C9 is still faster. it's just about perfect. just not a fan of the noise.

I don't like using lmp/group c cars in races (even against group c cars) The closest I get to using lmp/group c is when I use my Mazda Furai, Pagani Zonda R, and GT by Citroën concept (depending on track)

The Sauber sounds best, if you're into V8 growlers!. The XJ9 is a great car, but too loose and lairy, so loses out to the Minolta and Sauber on lap times. The 92C I don't have yet in GT5, but it was the fastest on GT4, probably because I had over 1000hp out of it and straights just vanished. Wasn't as stable as the Sauber or Minolta though, you had to be on your fingers to drive it.
