I've been seeing that most of the threads in this NFS Forum was mostly about U2 and MW.
So I thought of seeing if anybody here also likes the previous arcade NFSs like HP2, PU, HS, etc.
I liked HP2, High Stakes, MW and Porsche Unleashed :).
EDIT: Sorry but I request an admin to make this a multiple choice poll.

I used to be a big NFS fan, but EA hasn't made a decent Need for Speed game since the PS2 version of Hot Pursuit 2.

This is the order of my favorite games from the series. Best at the top.
1. Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 (NFS6)
2. Need For Speed Underground 2 (NFS8)
3. Need For Speed Underground (NFS7)
For some reason I did not like NFS:Most Wanted at all. Not sure why but I just did not like that game. I even tried it on the xbox then on the xbox360.

well i thought the first one (Psx) was awesome, then high stakes was even better (pc and PSX) and underground (PC) was pretty cool, then i went back to the first one and it wasnt that good anymore so high stakes.

Wow, i can't believe High Stakes, of all NFS games has 2 votes, while the 3 most recent games have none.

I like them in this order from best to worst (of the games I've played)

1. NFS: Hot Pursuit 2 (Xbox, PC and GC versions suck)
2. NFS: Most Wanted
3. NFS: Underground
4. NFS: Underground 2
5. NFS: High Stakes

Hot Pursuit 2 was great, I like Most Wanted, The Undergrounds weren't great, Underground 2 is worse than the first UG. I got High Stakes for 2 dollars, and it really isn't very good. It doesn't excel in any way.

Try the PS2 version, it rocks ;).
And Yeah, the Us suck. I wish I didn't put it in the poll, but then that wouldn't be fair.

This thread is a bit strange since the Need for Speed series has been on PS1, PS2, PC, 3DO, and other platforms. And since this is in a PS2 thread, I usually assume that we're talking about PS2 variants of the game.

But having said all of this, I've played The Need for Speed through NFS3, High Stakes, Porsche Unleashed, and NFS:U. So you could say that I am a veteran of the NFS series both new and old. I would have to say that Need for Speed II SE is perhaps the last true NFS game. True story... Back in around 1997, I had a crappy Packard Bell computer with 8 MBRAM and a 75 MHz processor. I wanted to play racing games like NFS II, Test Drive 4, and some other interesting PC racing titles. I didn't have the computer then. I've been DYING to one day own or play NFS2 SE. Thanks to the kind folks at EA (contradicting, I know), they unleashed a five-pack of the classic NFS titles which included NFS2 SE. The game matched a lot of my anticipation from years ago for wanting to play this game. It is a purely arcade game complete with 12 different exclusive and exotic cars. Two of my true loves were in the game- the Ferrari F50 and the McLaren F1. The best performing car was the Ford Indigo Concept Car. Here's an underdog moment for me to share with you all- some of my laps from the McLaren F1 were broken up when the Ford Indigo cleared laps better than the McLaren F1 and Ferrari F50. I think I even tried to do Knockout competition in an Indigo, even while I had a Class B car up against a number of Class A cars. I think I went pretty far until the game crashed on my b:censored:y computer. I'll have to try to install this game on this HP computer to relive the good old days.

My vote (in my NFS forum debut) is for Need for Speed II: SE. I say it's the last great NFS game. That's not to say that NFS3 wasn't at least marginally enjoyable, however. NFS:U was pretty fun for me. Had a chance to see what the buzz was about. The Need for Speed gave me wicked memories of crashing my car out a lot around Transtopolis in the game.

Need for Speed 2 is my vote, especially Need for Speed II SE.

I had to give it to Porsche Unleashed. While Hot Pursuit 2 and High Stakes were arguably better games, PU stands as the last hurrah for the old physics engine in the original NFS games (arcadey, with simulation elements), when it was changed over for HP2 (all arcadey, all the time). It also marks the last game in the series with a good damage engine.

I voted of course the hot pursuit 2......
I was a big mistake from ea to make nfs's with tuning etc. Nfsu and 2 were succesful but definitely hadn't the quality of the hot pursuit 2.
I saw that hot pursuit 2 is first:) :) :) Nice:tup:

I voted for the original as i have the best memories from this game both on psx and pc (NFS:SE)
then my first psx game NFS II still play it from time to time (i have fun rolling the buses)
number 3 has to be Hot Pursuit as it was the first game with Holdens and Fords (used to race my dad with the Holdens)

Not really a fan of the newer games as the tuning aspect has made the game dull

I never really got a chance to play NFS1 or Hot Pursuit 2, so my most favourite as yet is Underground 2. Also, why isn't Carbon in the polls? Is it too early?

My second favourite was probably High Stakes, that was one mean game. NFS2 I liked for the music and the quad-turbo GT90 and how the burnout marks actually stayed there for a while 👍

I'll probably get frowned upon for asking this, but does anyone know where I could obtain the music from NFS2, including the menu music?

i own them all, but need For Speed High STAKES ive played the most on psone, Ford Falcon XR8 Series 1, yeahhhhhh.
Same(except for i own them all),but i liked HP2 better, only cause it has great graphics, a great lifespan and of-course a great lot of cars.:)

ive gotta say i think nfs carbon could have been better not just because its too easy!!
I think most wanted was better

Has to be NFS Hot Pursuit 2 that was amazing overall I am not to keen on all these modifying car games. I would prefer supercars and not these modified pieces of japenese rubbish. Dont know why EA thinks people like street racing games I think they should go back to what NFS started out as.

Need For Speed Underground 2 is an aweasome game because it's the only game that has good tuning. :) NFSU has tuning, but it's not as good as the new one. :indiff: The NFS' for the PS1 have no tuning. :grumpy: NFSHP2 would be the perfect game if it had tuning. Does NFSMW have better tuning than NFSU2? I can't play it because of its rating. I wish NFS would just keep the same ratings! E and E10+.

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 has to be my best, but the original NFS was amazing aswell!

I liked NFS HP2 for its gameplay, but I also enjoyed underground 2 for its online play. It was also the last NFS game that had online for the PS2 oddly enough.

I voted for HP 2 simply because the cops are smarter in this one than HP. But they still can't set a proper road block nor a proper spike strip, lol :dunce:

I just wish I can get my hands back onto NFS HP for the PSX because it was my all time favourite one from the NFS series.

Totally agree, Wolfe. HP2 was the last good NFS before the series divebombed. I love HP2!
