Which of the courses under 'world circuit' category could you literally tomorrow turn up at the track and be able to drive it in real life?

Which courses offer opportunities for the ordinary person to drive on them?

I'm very interested to hear the answer. Does nordschliefe allow you to drive around it? Sarthe?

The 'Ring is the only one where you can race because it is a one way toll road without speed limit .
Did you notice the big roundabouts signs along the mulsanne straight ?
That road is used everyday. Same thing in Montecarlo.
You may take a walk in the centre of Assisi , as it is a pedestrian area .
I don'know how real Costa di Amalfi is.

OT : Do you know the Florence track in PGR2 ? That's quite unrealistic ... (trust me ; I live there !!! )

La Sarthe can be driven only partially every day.
The Mulsanne is an actual road.
Nurburgring can be driven at certain times.
From what I understand certain sections of it are public roads, and are only closed to open up the full track on certain days.
You can buy day passes, season passes, or pay by the lap.
Lots of accidents occur so its known to be halted for hours at a time on racing days.

be careful, it is not allowed to race on the nürburgring. on the public days the ring is indeed a public, one way toll road. as a consequence, all traffic rules apply. there are some speed limits on the ring (you can see the signs in GT4), you may only overtake on the left, you have to keep the safety distance to other cars, you should use your indicators and your car has to be street legal. of course all these rules ae not enforced too strictly, but you have to be careful as you can get fined for reckless driving.

besides, the ring is in no part a real public road. since it was built the ring has been a dedicated racing and test track.

costa di amalfi is one of the few (or maybe the only?) fictitious track in the city courses category. its loosely based on capri (as the name capri rallye in the special conditions hall implies) and you can see the famous faraglioni rocks from capri and the harbour looks a little bit like marina piccolo. besides that the course is entirely made up, unlike citta di aria.

regarding the other world circuits i suspect you have trackdays on most of the dedicated racing circuits, but not on la sarthe because that track is indeed made up from various public roads and a few dedicated parts. le mans la sarthe only exists once a year for the 24 heures du le mans, although there is also the le mans bugatti track which is a smaller track inside the la sarthe track which is a dedicated racing track.

here is a example of what can happen at Nordschleife, lucky escape here and if you watch closely you will see how close he is to the bike and he will be glad he held off a bit.

i know the nurburgring can be, i know one that isnt in GT4 but can be driven and that is silverstone

1. Nurburgring = For a Price..as stated above.

2. Laguna Seca = Only if one attends one of the Skip Barber Racing Schools that are held there

3. Infinieon Race Way = Only if one attends one of the ESPN Russell Racing Schools

Rest = Sorry but for the rest of the tracks, I couldn't tell you as I can't find anything out about them, except of course for what's already been mentioned above! :)

you can DRIVE almost every part of the monaco/monte carlo/cote azur track
but u certainly cant race there
its public road and u have to know the track to find your way around the pit box cause its not drivable normaly so u have to get round of it

but like i said u can almost drive the whole track
and idd the ring is drivable and part of le mans/le sarthe

that are the tracks i know u can drive on every day
but for real racing, i dunno if there are any

You don't have to go to one of the racing schools stated for Laguna Seca or Sears Point. You could very well become a National Auto Sport Association (NASA) or SCCA member and go drive your street car on the weekends they visit those tracks... Cheap cost (expect about $150/day), all day fun, paramedics and instructors on hand if needed. Of course if you become a member of either organization and volunteer your weekends to help out you get "paid" with free track time... can't beat that! :)

I was just in Monaco last summer and while you can drive on most parts of the track, the direction of traffic is actually in some places opposite of what the F1 cars do every year. Also expect to be going at a snail's pace around the Casino... always backed up with limos there... The best thing to do actually is to walk it on foot (including the tunnel, harbour, and pits) which is what we did with my friends and I.

Last time I checked a lap around the Nurburgring on a weekday when an automobile manufactuer wasn't renting it out for private testing cost 5Euro FYI.

5 euro? is that a typo? its actually 15 euro for one lap. ;)

although it gets cheaper if you buy a 5 lap ticket for 60 euro (only valid on one day) or a 6 lap ticket for 60 euro. then there are 12 lap tickets for 155, 25 laps for 300 or the ultimate one year ticket for 750€. ;)

(alternatively you can take the bus for 2 euro. :D)

I need the complete list of the GT4 tracks that are existing in our real world...

Who's got it?
real racetracks are:

le mans
nürburgring
cote d azur
fuji speedway
infineon raceway
laguna seca raceway
suzuka
twin ring motegi
tsukuba

fictitious racetracks that are made up of real existing streets:

new york
hong kong
seoul
citta di aria
opera paris
george paris
seattle
tokyo r246

I assume you can´t race the Fuji 80´s and 90´s anymore, since the track has been rebuilt...

absolutely real tracks:
Tsukuba
Fuji Speedway 2005
Twin Ring Motegi (The speedway too)
Suzuka
La Sarthe
Nürburgring
Laguna Seca
Infineon raceway
And also Côte d´azure

Infinion and Laguna Seca are both rented out for many club events every year. You could easily lap any of them if you made the arrangements.

Which part of the track is that ?

Visualize this:

After the snaky first section, you get to an overcresty part (over a bridge, the track gets narrow to the edge), then it's uphill, gentle left hander, keep going a bit, and that turn is rather blind. If you come in on the gas too much, you'll spin for sure (as he did) because there is less weight on your wheels. It happens to me a lot... Right after that is a narrowish hairpin with peanuts on the outside. After the hairpin is a bridge, which marks the first T1 time interval.

I just described this entire section, bottom to top:

Great video!

I know that turn can be deceiving but it didn't look like he was taking it too fast or wrong at all, I can't understand why the car suddenly spun out

Kinda. You can also race on Laguna Seca and Sears Point if you are a member of NASA (not hard to do) http://www.nasaproracing.com/ and drive at an HPDE. I drove my Rabbit GTi on Sears Point last August at an HPDE and had a blast. I made a headrest camera mount and recorded the sessions I got to drive around the track.

He beat me to it, but I posted NASA's website if you are interested.

I can't wait to get my Corvette running because the Vette club rents out both tracks during different times of the year to go driving around the courses.

Because a Porsche will suddenly decide to kill you without warning.
It's an older model, so the rear-mounted engine really has a wonky effect on corners.
My guess is he was braking through the curve, a definite no-no.
The older models require power through cornering.

^^^^ Beat me to it

You see the Porsche at the start and I really wouldn't of liked to be the guy on the bike he just overtook but what I found amusing was the whistle of releif he gives after he is facing the right way again.

I think when it's time for be to get round the ring i'll scrap the idea of borrowing dads 4.0 V8 Soarer and hire a front wheel drive car. :P

Anyway, glad you guys liked the video and for you will the Apple Mac (forgot your name) here is the site that you can just hit play from. Click here
