Hi,

I need a good racing game. Out of these which one is better.

1. NFS shift 2 unleashed
2. NFS most wanted
3. Grid 2

I am leaning towars Shift 2 unleashed because it has many racing tracks and more sim type unlike other 2 which are arcade. But as long as it is good racing game I am ok with it.

I will be buying GT6 and F1 2013 for sure. Or any other good racing game of this gen that I should get other than the above games ?

Evey game is different, Shift 2 is not like Most wanted and Not like Grid 2, i would lean in towards Shift 2 because even with it's flaws it's more likely gives you more fun. And if it did then you will like also Test Drive Ferrari Racing Legends 👍

But try Demo of Shift 2 unleashed, try all them.

I have decided to get Shift 2 unleashed. Although I am going to more sim games I thought of getting arcade racer but S2U should be fun too :)

I was going to recommend Shift 2: Unleashed as well. It is the cheapest of the three and in my opinion out of those three it is the most similar to Gran Turismo. Grid 2 looks fun as well but I'm waiting for a price drop before I buy it.

Having played all of these games recently (still playing both NFS games today, it really does depend on what you like in a racing game.

Shift 2 is my personal favorite as it has a blend of simulation and arcade elements, and it has a great car list and some fantastic tracks (Nurburgring Nordschliefe, Mount Panorama, Road America and Silverstone to name a few). It is also incredibly exciting to play after playing GT5 as the AI is unpredictable (though sometimes frustrating), the cars really feel alive both visually and physically and the sense of speed is brilliant.
However, the controls can take getting used to, but they are massively improved by altering the control settings.
If you are looking for an exciting sim/arcade racer, then this is definitely the one for you.

NFS most wanted is also very good (and is now free for PS+ subscribers 👍), but is also very arcadey, in that cars have to be drifted round corners to go at their fastest, as you do in GRID 2. The car list is mainly based around supercars, though there are one or two hot hatches and even a Ford pickup truck. Graphically though, this game is very pretty and I haven't noticed any dramatic frame rate drops when there is a lot happening on screen.
But I found that this game can quickly become boring as you often just find yourself repeating races but just in a different car, and the lack of camera choices can be off putting for some, as there is only a bumper camera and 3rd person camera:(.
If you like supercars, open worlds and cop chases, then this should be the obvious choice.

Now if i'm honest, GRID2 was a big disappointment for me as the title is was misleading. GRID 1 was great as it involved a lot of circuit racing, with the odd street race thrown in. But GRID2 is the polar opposite, and perhaps it's just me but the physics are more arcadey than before which i'm not a fan of. If I had to find a positive, then I suppose the 'objective' is fairly original, in that you have to build up a fanbase to promote a racing series. Also, as its the more recent game, there are newer cars, such as the Aston Martin ONE-77 and the BAC Mono
I suppose if you like Arcade racers in the city, then you should choose this one.

Yeah Grid2 has got lower scores than the other 2 NFS games. Although rating does not matter much it probably is not that good as it should have been.

S2U got cockpit view which I like to use. Having said that arcade games do not require cockpit view. Midnight club LA complete edition was also the game I was thinking but I will pass it.

Let me speak professionally here. Whichever you want is based on what game you think will provide the best experience and that you can enjoy the most. I have only played "Shift 2 Unleashed" of those three. Also, I am assuming you are talking about the latest "NFS: Most Wanted" and not the mid-2000s "NFS: Most Wanted." I have no "GRID 2" experience.

Playing the PS3 version, my biggest problem with "Shift 2 Unleashed" is the occasional bug. I didn't have much of any problems with buggy play with the first "NFS: Shift." I thought the NFS franchise mostly died once "NFS: Underground" came out, so there were future NFS titles I care too much about... including the new "NFS: Most Wanted." GRID 2 figures to be great fun and intense. However, I've had my likes and dislikes of Codemasters racing games. Case in point would be some of the thug AI I've faced in the ToCA Race Driver series of games. Because of this, I even have my qualms about playing the Codemasters F1 games. The GRID series to circuit racing and street racing is more like DiRT to rally racing.

So what you should probably ask would be these:
* Do I want a variety of cars and a deep array of races? (Shift 2 Unleashed)
* Do I want an engaging and pressure-packed game all about all-out racing? (NFS: Most Wanted)
* Do I want hard-fought racing both with street cars and proper race cars? (GRID 2)

Would you rather race mostly on city streets and in cities, or would you rather enjoy racing on a variety of circuits? Get "NFS: Most Wanted" or "GRID 2" if you prefer the former, or "Shift 2 Unleashed for the latter. Between Most Wanted and GRID 2, whichever one you want among those two games depends on if you want more street cars or a combination of street cars and racing cars.

I care more about simulation-type circuit racing. So even with its flaws, I would get "Shift 2 Unleashed" based entirely on what I like in a racing game and what I would probably enjoy most. But really, it's your call. Hope this helps.

None of those games are good sims all of them are arcade so therefore what I would look for in the game would change to simply how fun it is.

My vote would go for NFS Most Wanted, because nothing is more fun then trying to out run the cops around a huge map, there still are races and a large car selection so its not just outrunning the police, however that's what everyone I know spends all their time doing on the game.

I wouldn't buy the other two because if you already have a sim like GT5 and plan to get more sim like games (F12013, GT6) then why would you want to get another game with is still circuit racing but just with worse handling, go for something different go for NFS MW.

^^

I was thinking the same thing. To get MW as it is quite popular and probably fun, mix of burnout and nfs. S2U though is not bad either after doing some research on internet. Great tracks, car list. Hopefully game won't disappoint me as I am even looking to buy this Legends DLC:

Nice constructive post 👍 This can help many others as well to decide. By NFS: MW I meat the 2012 version which got best racing game of 2012

I'm glad I (and others) can be of help. My own contribution was with respect, because maybe these were the kinds of racing games you want to get. Maybe you didn't want the most hardcore racing sim or the most unrealistic arcade racer. One thing I've learned being on message boards and such (including here in my going on ten years on GTPlanet) is to respect the wishes and decisions of others no matter if you love or loathe those decisions. I could have told you to go get some other racing game instead and not waste your time with those three you've listed. I just wish I probably had a bit more experience with "NFS: Most Wanted 2012" and "GRID 2" to offer a more complete comparison.

I am going to refer to the newer Most Wanted as "NFS: Most Wanted 2012" to diffrentiate from the mid-2000s "NFS: Most Wanted." It is a bit dumb that EA didn't call it as "Most Wanted 2" or something.

One other thing to note is that "Shift 2 Unleashed" was long a "Greatest Hits" title. So if money is a factor, that is something that works in the favor of "Shift 2 Unleashed" apart from newer titles like "NFS: Most Wanted [2012]" and "GRID 2."
