Quick Off-Topic question: How do you regulate/control the start of drag races in this game? Since there isn't an official tree, I'm curious how this is done.

It really depends over what distance you're dragging, as stated before.

For shorter drags I use several cars, depending on what's already been brought into play: Tommy Kaira ZZII, HPA Golf, GTR Concept (Tokyo Motor Show version, with the stock automatic transmission) and even the 4wd Mazda Atenza (I forget which version it is, but it's got 550+ bhp) Over the shorter distances I've managed to beat Veyrons with the GTR Concept and Tommy K! (Admittedly, that was more likely down the the lack of tuning ability of my opponents, but a win is still a win!)

For tunnel drags though it's a different story, as the "short burst" approach won't help you at the end of the tunnel. For this, I use: Le Mans Quattro, Nuvolari Quattro, Shelby Series 1, Mercedes SL600 or Nissan Option Stream Z. All of which launch pretty hard and have a good top end, you have to remember that a decent tunnel run will last over 30 or 40 seconds, so your top speed needs to be tuned in as well as the launch.

Most of all though you need to make sure you've tuned whichever car you choose to the absolute best it can be, else you will still get wasted off the line, even if you're using exactly the same cars.

Normally someone designates a "seconds" in the race clock as the go time. Messages in rooms such as "05" etc are what you're looking for.

my god this thread needs to be locked so bad..

"but one time i beat a..."

anecdotal evidence, is not evidence.

you guys are missing the point. i can beat a veyron with my kubelwagon if the guy driving it is an idiot

in the universe where all cars had perfect tunes, and perfect drivers, they veyron would win

answer to thread's question = veyron end of story

the end

You're from France?

No, I'm an American :)

Well put. But the reality is that since the Veyron has such great acceleration and speed, not many people fine tune it, SOME DO but the majority don't. Whist some tune the GT-R beyond perfection...

Another good road car is the V16T that I just tested. It's pretty fast.

Just out of curiousity, I don't drag race or race online in general but has anyone tried not doing any weight reduction and adding weight ballast to the rear of these high horsepower rwd car?

You should always do weight reduction. I often add some ballast to the rear. Not much, but it helps plenty of times...

Although you're losing unwanted weight (from weight reduction), aren't you also sacrificing traction?

Well with weight reduction you are shaving weight from front AND rear. When you add ballast you only add it to the rear where you want more weight to increase traction.
