If you could buy any wheel/pedals that work/compatible with GT5 which would you buy and why?

Thinking about the new Thrustmaster but also like the look of the Fanatec GT3 Rs v2?

Help please, currently use my old DF Pro from the PS2 days which I love but I think I'd like something better now.

G25 and G27 are officially supported in GT5 and have their own configuration menus for the buttons. Just like the DFGT and T500 RS.

Fanatec wheels use the same G25 configuration menu due to them using the same driver in their so called "PS3 Mode".

I didnt know this option had been added, I just checked and you are right! only one question what about a PS button. do you have to use a separate controller?

Since they are not official Playstation wheels they don't have PS buttons. So no PS button on the G25/G27 nor on any Fanatec wheels.
So the answer to that question is: "Yes, you will still need to have a controller to access XMB".

What's your budget and platform(s)?

I was using the DFPro before settling on the G27. The CSR-E and the TS500 were a bit out of budget for myself and I would have been concerned with it's fit on the VRC.

The G27 was an easy enough upgrade as I could buy that from a local Fry's. The Fanatec wheels always looked impressive, but the support/issues that people had with them also made me think twice about that investment. I also only use PS3/PC.

When the next generation of consoles come out, I may make another upgrade. I'll be curious to see what's on the market then. I'm really happy with the G27. Not perfect, but sooo much quieter than the DFPro.

If you can hold out for just until about the end of March with your purchase. Get the ClubSport Wheel + ClubSport Pedals with Tuning Kit. Then wait until the ClubSport Shifter and ClubSport Handbrake are released to purchase that.

You won't be disappointed I think. :)

I'm still waiting for this one - Fanatec CSW.

So if you're waiting a bit anyway this one might be interesting, too.

No way the CSW will be out that early if the CSR E release timing was any kind of guide. The Pre-production units haven't even been built yet. We're likely looking at April before preorders are even available and whatever time frame the preorders happen you can tack another month until they actually ship to customers.

And with the experiences made in the past, I would not buy the CSW at release date. It seems to be like Fanatec releases their products before they have done a proper testing.

So if you are looking for a wheel in the next 2 or 3 months, go for a reliable nice wheel. Not saying that you won't have any issues with such a wheel. That can happen anyway. But you are not paying to be a beta tester.

Keep your DFP as a back-up and look for a GT5 supported wheel like G25/G27 or T500 RS. GT3 RS might be also a good choice for you. CSR-E is IMHO still in a state where I wouldn't buy it. And for any wheel with X-Box-Support you pay about 50$ just for the Microsoft licence (compare price of GT2 with GT3, acknowledged by Thomas in another thread).

Just my 2 (Euro) cents :sly:

I would go for the CSR value pack, or if you want the best wheel available go for a CSR-Elite with Clubsport pedals.
If you have time and want the best wheel, but only use it for PC and PS3 wait for the CSW.
But anyways, Fanatec is worth the money !!!
Even though there are a few problems, with some of the wheels, it's still worth it ;)

Thanks for all your posts,
But since the G27 is supported in GT5 and it comes highly rated on the forums I have opted for that along with a Playseat GT.
So it'll be goodbye to the old DFPro and speedseat...lol

Thanks again.

That might be an issue, indeed. Probably buying it after 3-6 months, depending on how quick issues arise / are being solved.

Turbo S is a superior wheel to the G27. I would believe the GT 3 RS V2 should be pretty close to the Turbo S.

But I can´t really recommend investing much money into GT5. It has such a sterile and mathematic feel like you are driving numbers or something.
