Who can help me with a small iTunes predicament?

Heres whats going on....I plug my iPod into the computer, it updates. When the update is done, it tells me that all 78 of my Queensryche songs cannot be found and have not been transferred. If I click on the first song in the list, it asks me if I want to locate the original file. I click yes and it takes me to the exact file of the song. I simply click on it and it plays, then I have to go down the list and double click on all of the songs so they are found, but the rest are found automatically. I dont have to locate those files. Then all is good, but this happens every time I update. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
 
Select the option to manually manage itunes and stop updating itunes and your ipod. In itunes go to File --> Add Folder to Library. Then just select your Music folder and press OK.

I personally would not update itunes or my own ipod because it's just annoying when apple adds a silly feature like rentals. This is why I run Songbird version 1.2.0 because they have a ipod plugin that works and it's generally not in the way like itunes likes to be.
 
I dont really need it to update my music when I plug it in, I manly synch it for the apps. I'll try the folder thing though.
 
Yes at 1 point you have moved this music. (itunes doesn't know where it is) Put the songs on your desktop and open itunes on half the screen. highlight the tracks then drag and drop them to music in itunes. (you may have to delete the old ones) This should sort it. I had the same sort of thing happen.
 
I tried to delete the songs from iTunes and re-add the folders but that didnt work. Another issue may be because my songs are not on my computer hard drive, but an external. Ill try the drag and drop method later today.
 
Yes do that. With the drag and drop method itunes knows where it's stored. (itunes library)

But on the other hand it may be different with them being on the external drive. I thought after clicking on it in itunes then finding the file on external drive itunes would remember it.
 
Well first remove all of your songs from the itunes library list. Then make sure you have all of your music in your music folder. Then add the songs using the method I mentioned before. As long as you keep the songs in the same location itunes should not report that the files are missing.
 
I have experienced the same problem. I always update my itunes, I don't think that is the problem. I also keep my music on an external hard drive. Do you get this problem when or after you switch the external hard drive between computers?
 
I get the problem only with the specific artist, all of my other music is fine, and every time I open iTunes regardless of if I have connected my external to another computer or not.

Is that certain artist in a different folder than the other artists?

Exactly what I was thinking; have you checked that all your music files are in the same location/folder?
 
I think I found the issue. It was the folder name: Queensrÿche vs Queensryche. I have no idea how this got changed because at 1 point it worked.
