9/3/2009 - MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho (AFNS) -- Starting Sept. 14, people in the local area may notice an increase in flying operations with a myriad of planes and visitors taking part in the first Gunfighter Flag 2009.
The multinational exercise will include participants from Nellis Air Force Base, Nev.; Schriever AFB, Colo.; Phoenix Air National Guard Base, Ariz.; Tinker AFB, Okla.; Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Wash.; and Cold Lake, Alberta, Canada.
"This exercise will maximize coalition and U.S. Air Force large-force exercise training through realistic dissimilar-aircraft training scenarios and advanced air-to-air and air-to-ground tactics," said Maj. Matt Vincent, 390th Fighter Squadron assistant director of operations. "This also gives us the opportunity to bolster international relationships with a vital North American Aerospace Defense Command partner."
The exercise will run from Sept. 14 through 25.
