Found a site with a really cool vid. Apparently conrstarch and water act as a vibrated shear thickening fluid, or depending on how the liquid is perturbed, its viscosity will change form thin to thick.

This is the site, check out the vid, it begins kind of boring but gets really trippy in the last 30 sec or so: http://chaos.ph.utexas.edu/research/vibrated_cornstarch.htm (site was slow to load for me)

This is an experiment to play with at homei foyu get really bored or think it is cool: http://www.seed.slb.com/en/lab/cornstarch/

Personally I found it amazing.

Cornstarch is pretty neat stuff. I use it on a daily basis to thicken soups and sauces.
It also works great for relieving a chaffing ass crack. Silky smooth, baby!

Oh dear.

Cornstarch is in everything edible. Or am i getting it confused with corn syrup?

I ran out of maple syrup one morning after I cooked up some pancakes and I poured corn syrup over them.

I think you are confusing it.

It's a non-Newtonian liquid. Under it's own forces it acts as a liquid - under pressure it becomes a solid. This also works with almost ANY liquid made from a powder.

On Sky Television's (okay... "British Sky Broadcasting") "Braniacs" show, they filled a swimming pool with instant custard and went on to show that you can walk right across it - but the moment you stop moving and stand still, you sink.

We keep it clean Duke, we keep it clean. ;)

It's on our prep lists. "Box of cornstarch in the bathroom?"
