Who likes gravel more than tarmac?

I love all the gravel tracks in GT4.... Everyone except Tahiti Maze :( I think they changed some corners and lenghts, its not as free flowing as GT3, which was really fun to play. I do free runs for hours and hours on that track.

Grand Canyon is great, and I already play that to death on Prologue. Lots of hairpins.

Swiss Alps is basically the same, but they changed the bumps on the road, which means you get to use the wide track alot more.

Cathedral Rock has alot of elevation changes, and the southern end has some tight hairpins. Surface changes are tricky.

I wish Polyphony would do just a GT rally game :) Sure beats WRC and McRae.

Is that all there is? I was promised Pikes Peak, damnit!

Rally tracks are a great part of GT, but only a minor one. For a fuller experience, I play Rallisport challenge. Its 't3h 0wn' :sly:

Yeah, for all my rally needs, I fire up the Xbox, and Play Rallisport Challenge 2:D Then again, I have yet to play GT4, so we'll see.

I don't want this to become a flame war but no GT game has ever challenged the Colin McRae series in terms of realistic rally racing.

You're wrong. At least in terms of Rally Car handling (and graphics obviously), the GT series has ALWAYS challenged the Colin McRae series in terms of realistic rally racing. Even back in the days of CMR2, the only begrudgingly negative comment was that it was matched by something that was only a small part of another game, GT2.

And GT4's rally handling blows CMR5 away, nothing comes close to it. Richard Burns has some decent realism, CMR has great damage, WRC has awesome tracks. But GT4's handling (and graphics) are the best, imho.

Thanks to GT4's great advances here, in Prologue I liked rally at least as much as tarmac.

Well, I really cannot compare GT4 to any of these other games, simply because I have not played any versions of it. If I were to compare it to GT3 and or GT2, RSC2 or McRae beat it hands down. I'm confident though, that GT4 is 100% better then any other GT game, in terms of physics.

Well, when I talked about McRae, it was 05, on the PC. With the same DFP, the handling is nowhere near GT4's.

I wish the full Pike's Peak were there. I hope I missed it somehow. I mean, I'm the person that just found the Vegas drag strip when I'm 34% completed :P

(Oh, GT2 rally was a sorry piece of work :) )

Heh, I know what you mean. I'm more into SCCA and WRC then I am drag racing. Anyone can go straight.

As gravel tracks go, a full Pikes Peak would be nearly as bigger thing as finding out that GT4 was to have the Nurb.

Although I really didn't expect GT4 to have the full Pikes Peak in, or even the one we did have in previous GT's for that matter, I WAS hoping that we'd have some more of the machinery that famously ran up the hill...

My best friend is a dedicated RBR driver on PC and he loves the realism of the handling. I also own RBR & DFP on PS2 and now the handling seems real.

@Arwin and other Planeteers: How do you guys compare the realism of GT4 with that of RBR. If it is close (or better) he is willing to buy a PS2 and GT4...... 👍

Why do you think GT4's handling beats RBR's?

Yeah what are you on! RBR canes CMR in realism, CMR could be played by anyone, RBR kicks it on damage, setups, handling, but it is hard! BTW, I much prefer Tarmac as you can get much better speeds.

IN PERSEPECTIVE: NURBURGRING VS. ANY GRAVEL TRACK!

IMHO, CMR2 is the worst rally game I've ever played. The car slides all over the place unrealistically. Watching the replays is just ghastly. The best rally game for PC, in terms of realism and physics has to be XPand Rally. It's such a fun game.

EDIT:
Oh, and the cars sound like **** in CMR2.

I love flinging the cars over the gravel tracks I look forward to the snow stages in gt4 but am sad to hear that tahiti maze has changed - it was far and away my favourite rally track in gt3.
