I live in LA and I have to say I'm not a big fan of living in California.

9% income tax, 8% sales tax.

It's the mecca of homeless people (as well as car freaks), and it's the mecca of liberals. Real estate prices are high and housing quality is low. The schools generally suck, the air sucks, the water isn't great, the traffic is bad, you get earthquakes occasionally, it's flooded with illegal immigrants, and all of the food has avocado (which I don't care for).

I like the weather, I like the scenery, I like the cars, the night life, the job opportunities, and proximity to the ocean and snow.

But LA (or San Diego or San Francisco) has a ton of drawbacks, big ones... like "You want to live here? You only have a small fortune to your name? He's your rundown shack in a gang infested neighborhood."

Oregon is the mecca of the liberals, danoff. Republicans don't even stand a chance here. Last Republican Governor in Oregon was decades ago. :indiff:

I didn't vote in the poll, because I love some of the things and hate some of the things about California. Overall, I'd say I like California.

I just moved to LA about a month and a half ago. Actually, I work near LAX and I live in Long Beach.

So far, I like it. Can't complain about the weather. Of the 6 weeks that I've lived here, it hasn't rained once.

Real estate prices are high and housing quality is low.

Yep, that pretty much sums it up. I'm paying a small fortune for this meagre shanty that I currently reside in.

I live in SoCal, there are some benefits like the weather, and the cars, but the downfalls are higher. The people are as dumb as rocks (no common sense to speak of), and have no morals. That, and you virtually have to learn Spanish to order food. House prices are outrageous (my house tripled in price in 8 years), and insurance rates are a drag. I do not like southern California.

Oh, and cars really don't rust here.

The reason why home and properties are so horrible and expensive here can be blamed on liberal morons for not allowing more "urban sprawl." They call it a disease. Morons.

I strongly suspect the real estate holders are to blame, too. BLM has grabbed up land like there's no tomorrow and they wont allow anybody on it. Why? They've banned shooters, hunters, campers, off-roaders, etc. from land they've "acquired." When the same liberal-Nazi group tried to outlaw or limit the sale of ATVs and the like, the major ATV makers, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, etc, put a political stop to it.

When you have a lot of customers but with little product, prices are high. California is simply not allowed to build more housing that it desperately needs. It's criminal how were are treated here in this state. I'm getting rather sick of it. If that wasn't enough, try to run a small business here. It's now almost impossible. And now, minimum wage is going up; twice. $8.00 an hour to a bunch of... nevermind...

Honestly...I used too, but other places just seem nicer, and better imho.

I mean, no offense, Cali. is great. It's got a little bit of everything (including the bad, unforunately), it's got Arrnald (:D ), and a huge variety of cars and people.

But I can get some of the beautiful sights there in other states and countries too, probably for a cheaper price
.

Some of the things that have already annoyed me about California are some of the hoops you must jump through to establish residence here.

For example, I had to provide my birth certificate!!! to get a drivers license AND take a written test, (I've been driving legally for 17 years now) all to get a piece of paper that doubles as your license while they do a background check and then send you your actual license card.
I completed all my paperwork on the 6th and I still haven't received my license.
I actually had to have my mother send me my birth certificate as I've NEVER needed it for anything.
Any state that I've ever had a drivers license, (4 others) all I've had to do was provide them with my old license. They then take your picture and provide you with your new state license. Done.

I can't even get a Post Office box here as I don't have any real proof of California residence yet. I need a drivers license and a second form of proof that says I reside in CA.

And the gun laws out here, lets not get started talking about that.

You live right by me then! I'm at Seal Beach. 👍

Anyway, house prices here are rediculous, but the weather's nice, and yes, the cars really don't rust.

California rocks ass. Who doesn't love San Diego, for instance? It's 80 degrees every freaking day. And they have a Zoo! Plus I golfed on the god damn ocean for like 18 bucks. EIGHTEEN BUCKS. That'd be like 120 in Boston, assuming such a course existed.

Coastal Route 1 is probably the coolest road I've ever driven on. And the Metro system in LA is run using the honor system so that's always good. Even the hobos are nice in LA; I had one follow me around telling me jokes about Michael Jackson and little white crackers.

I'm hoping to be able to go back this December after Finals and before Christmas. Maybe do a whole southeast US tour in 7-8 days starting in Phoenix and ending somewhere in Southern California.

Why'd you move, Boom?

Awesome.

And Awesome! You must own several restaurants on Sunset Boulevard by now, right? I bet you have one called b (gots to be lowercase), and the sign is green neon and it's in a simple font. And you only serve courses that start with b.

Tell me it's true.

It's true little buddy. I even only hire people that have names that start with b, and all waitresses must have a very full b cup. ;)

If you come to Kali, look me up and we'll cruise Long Beach with Snoop.

sn00pie? Or is Snoop someone/something else? Because I don't associate with the Dutch.

I do, however, associate with the Awesome, so I'll look you up if I ever head out in that direction.

I love it and I dont even live anywhere near there!...... definately I place I wana live at some point in my life! :)

I'd really like to know exactly how many songs about California the Red Hot Chili Peppers can produce. Those retards need to get out of California so they can expand their music horizons.

Lmao. They need to come to Miami so their next hit can be, "Dani Cafecito."

Too bad I am quite pale (red hair, Irish I believe) and anything about 80 degrees I burn and sweat and get miserable.

On the other hand, I love 40 degree weather. I'd love to move to like Boston or Maine or even southern Alaska.

Ouch. How long is your commute?

Long Beach? That's close-ish to where I am (Cypress).

The commute isn't bad at all. I take the 710 to the 405 and I'm usually at work in about 25-35 minutes barring traffic. But I usually go to work and come home in the off-hours of traffic (go in at about noon and come home around 1am) so I never really hit any.
I don't mind the drive home at all, it gives me time to unwind from work, you need that seperation between work and home I believe.
