I remember coming home with the game for the first time, giddy as could be! Me and my girlfriend just sat there watching the opening movie and I was thinking, five years was worth the wait :) obviously, the game wasn't ALL it was cracked up to be, but five months later and I'm still loving every second :)
 
Well I only got the game a couple months ago now so I still remember haha. This game doesn't get enough credit.
 
I remember having to do that really long download and I kept saying COME ON PLEASE LOAD SO I CAN RACE!!!
 
^ this, I had to just leave the room, I couldn't stand it anymore hahaha
 
Day 1 was really frustrating with the server problems they were having. I was really pissed at first cause I thought the loading times I was experiencing were normal. Quick google search brought me to gtplanet where I found out all I had to do was sign out of psn for the time being.

From that point on I've been really happy with the game for the most part. 👍

This is also the first GT game that I've played in the series, so I had nothing to compare it to, and it didn't have anything to live up to in my eyes.
 
I do. I remember just four months ago being so excited to be getting this game along with PS3. So far, it has been worth the wait and I am need of no new games until I get bored of playing it entirely.

Seriously, the game came out four and a half months ago. How can someone not remember less than five months back?

"Yeah, I walked in the door just the other day and saw GT5 laying there on the table and had no idea where it came from. I don't even remember buying it!"

Not only do I remember when I got it, I also remember having it a day or two before it was released, since Walmart mistakenly put it out prematurely, only for me to happily approach the register to be denied the purchase because the system wouldn't accept it yet.

You should have nicked it. When apprehended at the detectors, you could've said that it didn't come from walmart..... and the computers would have proved it as it's not in the system...:)
 
Yea! Still love it just as much now as I do then. Always some new little thing that sparks my interest.. photo mode, fireworks lighting up my cockpit, getting a new car off the UCD.. something is there thats "new" that keeps me stoked. In addition to the addicting realism of the racing of course :D
 
Alright, I had to spend 3 days after release date selling off worthless crap to stores just to garner up $60. I live in ever-cold PA, and since it's November, the days are short. I walk all the way to the mall, grab the game at a Gamestop. Go up to the dude. He says $63.54.

That was near mortifying.

So I trundle back home, go exacerbated, "Mom, $4.00...now." She gives me the money and I walk back to get the game. And then walk home victorious.

Similar thing with my DFGT, except I had all the money, but I had to carry it home at Christmas. Carry 10+ pounds that doesn't fit in your arms is a pain in the ass.

So yes, I remember that day well.
 
I´m still remember getting first Gran Turismo game, that was much more happy experience back than in PS1 era :D
 
I rented it. Remember liking it but being disappointed at the same time. Decided to buy it but wasn't going to pay $55 for it. Finally saw someone selling theirs on Amazon for $43 shipped. I've gotten my money's worth.
 
i remembered it for a week after release, then it killed my fat PS3, a week later and i had the slim and have been hooked since
 
I hated the downloading. I had to get a new ps3 a few weeks back and I had to update like the previous few patches and it took me FOREVER. I couldn't sit still I was so anxious to play this game.
 
I remember very well. My pre-order from Amazon didnt arrive on launch day so I went to Tesco's on the way home from work and bought it! I couldnt wait any longer. When my pre order came (3days later) I sold it on ebay.

And yes, I still love the game more than ever. :)
 
showing my age here but i still remember getting gran turismo 1 back in 1997 think it was, the graphics even back then blew my mind.
 
Waited for GT5 for so long, was so excited that it's comming out (that was October).
"Just 1 more month"
Then, on October 26th - my PS3 broke.
Got it fixed on January 25th, got GT5 on January 26th.
I remember comming home with GT5, hoping that my PS3 will read it.
It did, I was amazed by the intro and the game lived up to my expectations. Of course it had some flaws but again, who doesn't?
Installed the game, downloaded 1.05 and went to My Home - and there she was, Pagani Zonda R waiting for me.
Gotta love my PSN friends.
 
I remember it alot, 4 days after christmas we had to go shopping so I decided to take my money with me so after going to the asda in town I was ready to purchase the game I took the case to the till but there was no disks left that gt5 would of cost me £39.99 then went to the other asda few miles away walk in get the game £43.50 ! rip off much. then when I got In I downloaded it and then said bye bye to my social life
 
I paid for GT5 80 euros, talking about ripoff.
 
I initially found the game very disappointing, there were and still are so many missed opportunities. Once I'd got over that the game grew on me and collecting addiction started.

The 'game' element is over for me, it's now just about driving cars I like on tracks I like. I'm not even that bothered about racing, online I just like Free Run rooms.
 
I remember the day, November 25th, when I came home from school. My Dad then took me to the shop to collect my pre-ordered Signature Edition GT5. When I came home, I opened it and examined the material within, while installing GT5. Once it had done, I spent my time driving in the Chromeline and stealth cars. What a brilliant day.
 
I was having a "HELL YEAH!!!" moment cause I got my preordered copy from amazon a day early. Then during install I strived around in the room like an anxious tiger waiting to pounce... and then came the ennerving warning messages... and a relatively boring intro with horrible music... and I was in!

Luckily the go-kart event I did first has been so immediately redeeming fun after a very, very frustratiing start. Kinda foreshadowed the whole "game".

This happened to me. I ordered the Collector's Edition from Amazon waaaaaay back in August; getting seriously frustrated at all the delays, then finally getting it a day early.
 
I really got tricky at gaining my copy. Went to Gamestop. At that point they had a "bring us 2 games (out of a given list) and only pay €9.99 for either GT5 or *can't remember the other one*" thingy lol.

I was searching for 2 games already being in the shop, which were part of that specific list (2 cheapest ones to buy). I put them on the table, aka bought them, them sold them immediately plus asked for my GT5. Paid that additional €10 and went home. Call it happiness :D This way my total was €35 which is nice considering the average release prices here are around €45-60. Must be why I am in the sales :)
 
they day i got gt5, is the day my ps3 became a game console again as opposed to fancy blueray player.

it then got the YLOD 2 weeks later. :D
 
It was November 23rd. I took a day off school lol. It was some stupid speak out challenge that I didn't want to take part in (I'm a bit shy you see). Lucky for me, GT5 was out on that very day. So I remember waiting for the postman to come round and pop the game through my letterbox. I ran and got it and immediately started installing GT5 while I read the manual and stared at the case in amazement lol. Ah good times...

Got the game the day it came out. Decided to install. It said estimated 20 minutes. Took over 1 hour. Loaded up arcade mode to check out the "damage modelling." Race still has to install. Damage model disappoints.

Overall good game, but also disappointing since PD/Sony overhyped the game with over the top commercials and 6 years.
 
Totally! I first preordered it but on the day it came out they hadn't send it yet so i canceled the order and took the long route home just to pick the game up from a electronics store. Then i got home and i was like "WHAAAAT?!" because of the long install time, but as soon as i sat in that 60's mercedes on the nürburgring i was just in love. It was just the best game i had ever played. It might have a lot of issues, but i have played it nearly every day since the release. I have never tried to play any other game this much. And i am still enjoying it.
