Coming soon...
I'm wondering who here on GTP still uses the sixaxis (or as i like to call it: "ye olde sixaxis")with the D-pad while playing GT5p? I've been playing with the 'controller' since GT2 and have gotten so comfortable, i cant see myself switching to a wheel. Anyone else feel the same way?

I felt the same way as you. Until I had a go in race seat at the Sydney Motor Show and it had a DFGT on GT5P. It was awesome and I decided that I had to get a DFGT. I can't imagine ever using a pad ever again on a GT game now. I definetely recommend everyone to buy a wheel, they are brilliant.

I got a wheel, but I don't have anywhere to put it so it's in it's box right now. I've tried with it before and (while getting the deadest butt possible) I found I was good at the grip racing but not drifting.

If I can get a good platform to put it on, I'll give it another crack

In my case, it's the other way around. When I started playing GT2 on the PSone, I immediatly bought a Ferrari wheel. It wasn't compatible with GT2 but I managed. I never used a controler.
I still regret that games like motorstorm 1&2 aren't compatible with a wheel. I didn't buy this game because I had to use a sixaxis to play this game. For me personal, it's just not the same as playing with a wheel, although playing motorstorm with the sixaxis was fun from time to time.

(the motorstorm game I had came with the PS3 I bought, just to explain how I got motorstorm although I just said that I didn't buy this game. I sold motorstorm after a while).

Maybe you can add a poll to the thread?

Sixaxis/DS3 user here, although not D-pad driver. Analog steer, R2 throttle, L2 brake. Works decently. GT1, I used D-pad because Dualshock 1 wasn't out yet. Bought Dualshock with Christmas loot whichever year that was, haven't looked back to the D-pad.

I'm one of the guys using a sixaxis, acutally I'm playing it the old fashioned way with using the d pads.

When GT2 came out I bought a wheel spent some months driving it a wheel, just to find out that a joypad is much more fun to do some quick laps to relax. That's still how I feel about GT5P. I have got all these simulations on my computer with a proper wheel and stuff. I just turn on GT5P to do some online races and to have some fun. When turning on the PS3, it's all joypad for me. :sly:

I sitll use my Sixaxis from time to time, for the Sixaxis Competition or when i can't be bothered to get out the playseat and wheel.

It isn't that hard to get used to the wheel. I used my controller since GT1 and i switched and was still ok.

Ye Olde Sixaxis here (would like a Dual Shock 3) !

I have tried a DFP wheel (which is great) but I don't like it taking up desk space with wires everywhere. It's a pain to pack / unpack. Picking up a Sixaxis is just so much easier!

I don't use the D-pad for steering though - does anyone?

YE OLDE SIXAXIS/NEW DS3 here,Analog steer,analog throttle&brake,would like to give a DFP a try!

I preffer dual analogues over a wheel, but probably because I only have the Mad Catz wheel...

If I get a DFGT I presume I'd preffer it, but space in my bedroom is a problem (I live with my mother and her boyfriend - no matter how har I try, I can't convince them to swap rooms with me so I get the bigger one)...

When a man with a stick goes against a man with a wheel, the man with a wheels a dead man. Stickman here.

who can tell us what thats a paraphrase of?

6-axis user here and proud of it...not  haha . I use the joystick for steering and x and square buttons for gas and brake, while the shoulder buttons are designated for shifting.

I'll be picking up a wheel next month...hopefully I'll be rewarded with a few tenths ;)

Isn't that a line from an old Clint Eastwood western or some TV western - it said something like when a man with a pistol goes against a man with a rifle, the man with the pistol is a dead man. Rifleman here.

I used to use my Sixaxis for GT5 until I finally got my G25. I wasn't too upset with my driving with the Sixaxis however... I still use it for drifting. ;)

+1. It's easier to drift with Sixaxis. But I'm really happy I did a buy a DFGT.

Definitely. I tried drifting with the G25 but it just wasn't possible (for me) so I tried my Sixaxis and it worked fantastic. 👍
